My dog's tooth is loose after chewing. Does it hurt? Vet needed?

Pet's info: Dog | Labrador Retriever | Female | unspayed | 5 months and 3 days old | 30 lbs

my dog but my phone and now her tooth is like hanging. I dont know what to do I don't know If it hurts her or if i should take her to a vet in the morning ?

If she has a tooth hanging out, it's not necessarily an emergency, but I would recommend taking her to vet in the morning. If it's a baby tooth, it is usually not a problem since they will fall out eventually. If it's an adult tooth that is hanging, she will likely need to be put under anesthesia to have it extracted as these broken adult teeth are very painful and prone to infection.

Oh no, poor Layla! Likely this tooth is her baby canine tooth, which would fall out eventually anyway. Do not pull this tooth out yourself, as if it's barely hanging on, it should come out on it's own, like during a meal. I would take her into the vet in the morning to have her mouth examined, as it should be made sure that the root isn't still in her gums. I would feed her canned puppy food or soak her dry food with warm water or low sodium beef or chicken broth to make it softer and easier for her to eat in case her mouth is sore.

Poor Peanut! He definitely does need to have this checked out by a vet, since it sounds like he'll likely need to have the affected tooth extracted and the area checked to make sure he doesn't have a broken root still stuck in the tooth socket. But if he seems comfortable right now and isn't overly painful, it should be fine to wait until tomorrow and see your regular veterinarian rather than going to an ER tonight.

It looks like he chewed something hard enough to loosen them or injured them otherwise. Maybe he was chewing something, got his teeth caught, panicked, and tore loose. From his expression he doesn't seem to be in any pain but I would call your vet and describe the problem and see if they recommend coming in. Thanks for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach! If the tooth is loose enough and your dog will let you, you can pull it out. If it won’t come out or he won’t left you, just leave it alone until tomorrow. Make an appointment with your vet tomorrow to make sure no root remains. If he wants to eat tonight, he can but I wouldn’t feed him in the morning in case the vet needs to sedate him for an oral exam. Water is ok to give. My puppy cracked a tooth. Is an urgent vet visit necessary if no pain?

Hello. That tooth probably should come out, even though it is a puppy tooth, but you can wait until Friday as long as Luna does not seem uncomfortable. . Your veterinarian might just leave it be, but there is a small chance of infection that can get into the root & then the bone causing problems with the adult tooth.
