Why are my puppy, cat, and I all sick? Could it be contagious?

Hi. It may be a parasite that isn't picked up on a regular fecal sample. You may need to have a fecal culture done. These more specified tests will check for things like cryptosporidum, c. Diff, salmonella, campylobacter, etc. It may also be a viral infection of some kind that isn't picked up on fecal or blood. I think you should talk to your veterinarian about making sure all 6 pets are treated at the same time, and that the environment is fully cleaned and decontaminated. Hi, thank you for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach! I am sorry Ojitos is sick but I am glad you had him seen by your Vet. It depends on the cause of the vomiting and diarrhea. If it is viral or bacterial it can be. But if its from eating something gross that is disagreeing with him, food allergy or sensitivity, pancreatitis, intestinal inflammation then no it shouldn't be contagious. I am sorry Jax is not feeling well. Giardia can be spread and is contagious between dogs. If you had a dog at home diagnosed with giardia it is very possible the other dogs have it too. However I would recommend taking them to the vet for confirmation to make sure you are not overlooking another possibilities. Hope that helps

It is important to have the sick kitten evaluated as kittens can quickly become dehydrated and have low blood sugar, making them feel even worse. While it is unlikely that your son got sick from one of the kittens, it is possible. I recommend that you have him seen by a physician if you are concerned.

Hi,t hanks for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach! Dewowmers have the potential to cause an upset stomach such as vomit, diarrhea and decreased appetite. Though I am worried something else is going on since you lost a puppy recently. I worry most about parvo virus in puppies this age, especially if they are yet to be vaccinated. I would have this puppy seen today by your Vet and tested for parvo virus as it is VERY contagious and if it is the cause it will likely affect the entire litter. If it isn't parvo the Vet can at least get this puppy feeling better and prevent dehydration. Good luck!
