My dog's canine teeth ripped out in a fight. Does he need a vet?

You can try applying gentle pressure to Brian's mouth, but he should see a vet for this. Even though he doesn't appear bothered by it, it will be painful to him. Imagine how you would feel if your tooth was ripped out. The only way to know for sure if there isn't any part of the root left is with dental x-rays, and he may need the hole stitched as well as antibiotics. He has to see the vet. If they fell out completely and they are not broken (you can check if there is any remnant there) a check up generally speaking would not be needed. Soft food would be a good idea even though if you tell us exactly which teeth were injured we can give you more specific advices. Phoebe must be in pain so a check up would be ideal to have some pain meds prescribed. If there is any piece of tooth still in there, then a check up for extraction is required.

Based on the attached pictures, I would recommend removal of the carnassial tooth as well as the too the next to it. There is significant loss of bone around the roots and should really come out now. The vet may have recommended referral to a vet with more experience as these teeth can be challenging to remove due to their size, location, and number of roots.

In most cases such a condition should not require a vet visit or any pain killers, in some cases there could be an infection causing the tooth loss and that might need to be treated with antibiotics. If the pain does not seem to g away within a couple days- take Tucker to the vet in order to get it treated.

If she has a tooth hanging out, it's not necessarily an emergency, but I would recommend taking her to vet in the morning. If it's a baby tooth, it is usually not a problem since they will fall out eventually. If it's an adult tooth that is hanging, she will likely need to be put under anesthesia to have it extracted as these broken adult teeth are very painful and prone to infection.
