My dog has bumps after grooming. When to use sensitive skin shampoo?

Hello. Harley is having a significant allergic reaction, possibly from the shampoo, possibly from something else. You may have inadvertently left some shampoo on his skin & coat, so I would rebathe him in lukewarm water & no soap. Make sure you rinse multiple times to make sure all shampoo is removed. If he is not uncomfortable, you can just watch him as it may take a day or two for the bumps to subside. If he is very itchy or uncomfortable & chewing at his skin, please see your veterinarian. Thank you for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach! While Jetta's bumps can be caused by a reaction to the shampoo used, they can also be due to an infection or certain skin mites. I recommend keeping a close eye on the area for the next few days and having Jetta seen by a vet if it does not improve. The area may also be itchy, so you can get her an E-collar or "cone" to prevent her from scratching andc ausing further damage. I hope this helps and that Jetta feels better soon!

Hey there. It looks like Waffles may be having an allergic reaction to something which is causing the bumps. It may be to a product your groomer used, or it may be coincidental. I would recommend giving him another bath with an oatmeal/aloe shampoo and see if that will sooth the skin. Lilly Lynne may have a bit of rash or razor burn if she was trimmed close. First be sure she is on appropriate flea control as she may have picked up fleas from groomer. Benedryl is acceptable to use once or twice daily if it give her relief. She may also be having a reaction to the shampoo or fragrance the groom used. I would give her a bath in dawn to wash off any residue to see if that helps. (Original blue dish soap dawn). If no improvement then she may need a vet visit. I hope she’s back to normal quickly. Hello. I am so sorry for your worries with Nero. The best thing for something like this is to bathe him in an oatmeal based shampoo (either one for people, like Aveeno, or one labeled for dogs) using COOL water. Let him soak for about 10 minutes & repeat daily as necessary. You do not want to use any topical creams or ointments as this may leave him a greasy mess. Hopefully, this will help his skin greatly. I'm sorry to hear that Jordan has had so many skin issue since his grooming! It is possible that he had a reaction to the shampoo and conditioner that were used, or may have experienced some damage to the hair follicles that can result in skin irritation or infection. At this point, you can try using either an oatmeal-based dog shampoo or antiseptic medicated shampoo (here is one example: http://www.drsfostersmith.com/product/prod_display.cfm?pcatid=27982). However, if Jordan's skin issues persist or worsen, he will need to go to his vet for further evaluation. I hope that all goes well!

Poor Monty! It sounds like he may have a clipper rash from the grooming. I would give Monty an Epson salt or oatmeal bath now to see if that helps with the itching. If this doesn't help, I would take him into the vet first thing in the morning, as he may need a corticosteroid cream to help with the rash.
