My dog had seizures and high fever. Why is he breathing fast now?

The more seizures a pet has the most sensitive his nervous system is to them. If Bailey is not having rapid breathing then this could be because his other organs are now becoming affected by the seizures. It is best to take him to your vet for a baseline bloodwork screen to ensure he is not anemic, or have any other internal changes caused by the seizures. If he does then he may need treatment. And if his seizures are currently not being controlled and well managed (less than 1 seizure a month, and occurring for less than 2-3 minutes), then it is best to get him on anti-seizure medication for his safety and well-being.

Hi and thanks for posting! If Bruno was diagnosed with a tick borne illness by his veterinarian, the fever he experienced may be due to this. If he was placed on any inflammatory medications, this would have helped his fever subside. There are many other medical causes of fever in dogs aside from tick borne diseases which should be explored and ruled out with Bruno's veterinarian. Hello. These are ticks & ticks can carry some pretty serious diseases. You can not rule out that your dog may also be experiencing true seizures due to epilepsy, but this is a instance where you need to get the ticks off your pet & seriously use a product to keep the ticks off as best you can. Kalo should be evaluated by a veterinarian in case he has already picked up one of the tick-borne diseases & I am sure your veterinarian can recommend the best tick products that are available in your country. I would Holiday examined by a vet, as it's not normal for a dog to breathe heavy without exercise. It could be a tick borne disease, but it could also be a respiratory illness, heartworm disease, or heart disease among other causes that are leading to her symptoms. The vet can do a physical exam, blood tests, a urinalysis, and x-rays to diagnose what is causing his symptoms, and can treat accordingly.

It sounds like Tato may have an underlying illness causing him distress, especially if he is acting out of sorts, has had behavior changes, and also had a lot of tick bites in recent days that can cause illnesses such as lyme disease, tick fevers, and more. Since these symptoms have been ongoing for two days without improvement, it would be best to bring Tato into your vet ASAP for a full exam, bloodwork, neuro exams, and additional testing as needed.

Please take her to your nearest emergency clinic - cluster seizures can progress to a life threatening status epilepticus if not treated in time and can be very difficult to manage. Have a quick look to see if she may have ingested anything toxic - slug pellets, mouldy food, chocolate etc

Something is definitely making her feel bad, but this is not specific to any one problem. The fact that she has a high temperature makes me suspicious that she has an infection.
