Why is my dog's breast hard like a rock and she's just laying around?

This looks like mastitis which is a breast infection. Please take her in right away for treatment as this can become a very serious and painful problem. They will give her antibiotics and may need to do additional medications to reduce the swelling and inflammation. This can become life threatening is not treated quickly. If she is not spayed the number one reason for swollen teats is mammary (breast) cancer. If she recently had puppies then it could be severe mastitis. Either way this is serious. Your vet cannot drain these. I have no idea what they would possibly be referring to. If this is cancer, they have to be surgically removed. Sometimes the cancer is benign. Sometimes it is malignant and will spread to other organs (mainly the lungs). Regardless, the only way to potentially cure this is surgery. Yes, it does sound and look like that breast has got mastitis. Have you tried to gently wipe away the crusty covering on the nipple with some lukewarm water ? Then apply lukewarm compress on that single breast for 5 minutes at time, leaving about half hour in-between. Yes, there could be something wrong although i see she is now spayed and this should reduce the chance of mammary gland tumors dramatically. it would be best to get it checked by your vet, this is something that will require a physical exam.

I agree, Mazi's mammary glands do look quite swollen. This can be a sign of mastitis, which is an infection of the mammary glands. Mastitis is very serious. I would take her into a vet asap to get this checked out. As for bottle feeding the puppies, weigh them daily and if they aren't gaining weight, they do need to be bottle fed.
