Is bloody poop or vomit normal for dogs during parvo treatment?

Dogs with parvo will poop blood, but worms are not part of the parvovirus. Now dogs with parvo could have worms at the same time, causing them to poop blood with worms. Koko needs to see a vet immediately if he's pooping blood. Best of luck.

Coccidia symptoms include watery, mucousy diarrhea. explosive diarrhea that may eventually become bloody, lethargy and weakness, dehydration, abdominal discomfort and tenderness, vomiting., weight loss, and little or no appetite. The symptoms for parvo are very similar. In the picture your puppies still look pretty bright so this is a very good sign. Use unflavored Pedialyte or low sodium chicken broth to keep them hydrated. If they will eat, feed them small amounts of their regular puppy food, moistened with broth or Pedialyte to encourage them. If they continue to vomit though you may want to hold off on solid food as vomiting will dehydrate them faster and undo the good work you've been doing.

It very well could be parvo. I suggest you get her to your vet ASAP for an exam and testing. You really need to know if it is parvo or not. Either way, your vet will help you determine the cause of the bloody diarrhea and give you treatment options. Then, once this diarrhea is cleared up you can get her started on her vaccines. It could be parvo but it could also be other things. you need to take him urgently to the vet for him to get hospitalized and treated, if it is parvo his chances are not good at his age but if it is something else he could survive if he receives the correct treatment.

Hello. It does sometimes take time for the gut to heal after a bad bout of Parvo, & 11 days of treatment says to me this was a tough one. Continue to fed Pluto, but you might want to switch to an intestinal diet or one made for sensitive stomachs & skin. I would try feeding pretty small amounts frequently, rather than 2-3 larger meals a day. Even a tablespoon or two every hour or so might be tolerated better. If your Pluto was not under the care of a vet for this, I would also be concerned about concurrent intestinal parasites, so a good deworming may be necessary. Oh goodness. I am so sorry to hear that Bambi is so sick. I am very concerned about parvovirus with the symptoms that you describe. I would highly encourage you to have her evaluated by a veterinarian immediately. At 1.4 pounds she can become severely dehydrated very quickly. Best of luck and I hope she improves soon. If she's stopped having diarrhea, this is a good sign. I hope that she has some medication on board for nausea and vomiting - if not, your vet should be able to prescribe some for you to give at home. Normally, with parvo, the best sign of recovery is when they have gone 24 hours without any vomiting and are eating on their own - until then, you need to continue treatment with fluids and other supportive care.
