As a first approach in this case, I would suggest to withhold food for the next 8-12 hours and then start feeding with a bland diet based on boiled chicken and rice in small portion every 6 hours for the following 48hours. Sand can cause issues in the G.I. tract including information and potentially an obstruction/blockage. I recommend Tucker be examined by a veterinarian and likely an x-ray done. This is because if he does have an obstruction he will need surgery to remove the sand. If the x-ray looks good did it may be putting him on a bland diet and giving extra fluids will help him get better.

Poor Maggie. If she ate a lot of sand and seashells, that will be making her sick. Because she is vomiting, having diarrhea, is very lethargic, and not eating, she is too sick for a home remedy. You need to take her into a vet immediately to get this treated. Best of luck.

She may just have a GI upset from stress, but if she is also lethargic she may dehydrated to the point of needing fluids or medications. In some cases of gastroenteritis, dogs may require hospitalization for IV fluid therapy. I hope Hachi is feeling better soon.
