My dog has a little blood in his poop, but is acting totally normal.

Hello and thank you for using pet coach to address your concern! After any surgery involving the GI tract, some bleeding can be normal. I would expect this to lessen and resolve after a week or so. If the bleeding becomes more pronounced or Scooby does not appear to be doing well, I would get him to your vet for a recheck as soon as possible. You should also periodically check his gum color. The gums should be nice and pink. If the gums are pale or pale pink, I would get him seen by your vet sooner rather than later. Please let me know if you have any other questions concerns. Thank you for submitting your question regarding Lola. The coloring of her feces does not appear to be blood. If she is acting normal, I would monitor her next bowel movement closely. If diarrhea develops or the stool begins to contain mucus or obvious traces of blood (blood in the stool is frequently more liquidy), then she should see her veterinarian. Hello, thank you for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach. I don't think I would be extremely concerned about one drop of blood that has happened once. As long as she is otherwise acting normally I would just monitor her for now. If the problem persists or she starts to act ill then she will need to see a vet. In the meantime I suggest you start her on a probiotic. It won't hurt anything and may help. Any probiotic made for dogs is fine. I would use it for a minimum of two weeks. This will regulate the normal bacteria in her GI tract. Hope this helps. Best wishes.

Diarrhea with mucous like that is concerning for either a mild GI upset, or could be caused by a more severe problem such as IBD or cancer. The small bits of blood could just be a bit of colitis (inflammed colon) and some burst vessels, or could be due to a clotting disease or a tumor (the last two much less likely). If Louie is still eating, drinking, playing and acting normally, then you can monitor for now and if the blood or diarrhea gets worse then bring him to a vet. If you see any other signs such as weakness, vomiting, inappetance, trouble breathing, or more blood, then get Louie to a vet right away. One possible cause as well is rat bait toxicity, so if there is ANY chance Louie could have gotten into rat bait then I would have him checked by a vet right away. Overall, it is likely not a concern, however monitor closely and bring him to a vet if you see any decline. Best of luck with Louie!

Hello, sorry to hear about Pookie. It sounds like he is having some hemorrhagic gastroenteritis (HGE). Occasionally this is self limiting and can be resolved with a bland diet for 3-5 days (plain white rice, skinless and boneless boiled chicken). However often, pets require medications and supportive care for the associated dehydration, vomiting, and diarrhea (with or without blood) that comes with this disease. If Pookie is not improving within a day, or if his diarrhea is worsening despite the bland diet, if he develops innapetence or vomiting, then he should be evaluated by his veterinarian promptly. The drops of blood may be due to a little stress or inflammation in the colon. You can try a bland diet for 3-5 days to see if it helps. If not, have her seen by your vet. You should also submit a stool sample to your veterinarian to rule out intestinal parasites (worms).

I'm sorry to hear Frank is having an issue! If he is otherwise acting normally you can try to offer him a bland diet of boiled chicken and sweet potato or rice to see if this helps. If the diarrhea persists, he starts vomiting , stops eating or becomes lethargic he will need to be examined by a veterinarian right away. Puppies can easily get intestinal parasites so it would be a good idea to have your veterinarian check a stool sample on Frank.
