Thanks for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach! This could be a benign or malignant growth. There is no way of knowing what it is just based on its appearance. This is often differentiated by a test called a fine needle aspirate (FNA) which is a pain free, inexpensive and easy procedure which in most cases will help reach a diagnosis. Sometimes a biopsy is needed for a definitive diagnosis. I recommend that you have her evaluated by your veterinarian for further assessment and treatment. I am really hoping for something benign. Good luck and have a good day!

It could just be a benign growth, but I really cannot diagnose from a picture. I'd need a sample to examine the cells under a microscope. You can ask your vet to send off a biopsy of it to a lab to get an exact diagnosis.

This looks like it could be an adenoma, which is a benign skin growth. There are several other skin tumors that could look similar, and some might need to be removed. I'd recommend having your vet take a look in person and potentially take a sample using a needle to see what cells are present. I don't necessarily think you need to see your vet urgently if it has been present for a year and isn't bothering Cheese.
