My female dog has a bleeding stomach bump with pus. Is it serious?

Updated on September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | Mixed Breed Medium (23 - 60lb) | Female | spayed | 31 lbs

I noticed a bump on my female dogs stomach yesterday. We are on vacation and away from our vet. Today it had an obvious thin place and I squeezed a little nd blood and a little pus came out. I washed it and out neosporine on it. Just want to make sure it's nothing serious. We will be home tomorrow.

That area could be a ruptured abscess, a ruptured cyst or the previous home of a worm larvae. You can continue treating it like you are. Make sure Eleven wears and elizabethan collar at all times to prevent any licking which could make it worse. If the lesion is not healing within one week or is getting worse at any a point, have her examined by the veterinarian. I hope this helps and please feel free to post any additional questions.
