My dog has bleeding sores on his back after a bath. What should I do?

It looks like he could have a bacterial skin infection which could be related to allergies. You could bath him with a medicated dog shampoo and see if that helps. Otherwise, have him examined by a vet for treatment. He may need an antibiotic, anti-histamine, and/or a corticosteroid to help.

This sounds quite painful for Mejo! Allergies can have a variety of causes, typically including allergies to fleas, food, or the surrounding environment. Allergies cause itching, which can lead to open sores and scabbing that can become infected and lead to further itching, creating a vicious cycle. It sounds as though Mejo needs to see his vet at this point to evaluate his skin for the presence of infection, because skin infections typically require a course of antibiotics/antifungals, and anti-itch medications or corticosteroids to control the itching. In the meantime, make sure Mejo is receiving a high quality flea preventative (such as Nexgard, Bravecto or Advantix) once a month and have him wear an e-collar (cone) to prevent further skin injury from scratching.

It really comes down to figuring out what is causing her allergies so that they can be treated or the specific allergen avoided. A secondary infection is likely and also needs to be addressed. There are many things that can cause allergies though in most cases they can be broken down into 3 big categories: flea, food and environmental allergies. Allergies are usually worked up in a stepwise fashion starting with flea allergies as this is the easiest and cheapest to take care of. If not on a flea preventative, then it would be a good idea to get started on one. If already on one then it would be a good idea to change to something else (there are many new products out in the market). If not improved in 1-3 months then it is time to move on and check for food allergies by switching to a novel diet (new protein and new carbohydrate). If that does not seem to be the issue then you are left out having to check for environmental allergies which require blood and/or skin tests. Allergies can be very frustrating to deal with at first but so rewarding at the end when we are able to treat them effectively!

This sounds like he may have gotten into an ant nest or have a secondary skin infection from an allergic reaction. I recommend a veterinary exam and probably antibiotics to heal this skin infection. In the mean time you can bathe Browny in a medicated shampoo and apply a thin film of antibacterial ointment on the sores he can't reach to lick. Your veterinarian can also give medication to reduce the itch and inflammation. This sounds painful also so please take him in soon for treatment. I am sorry to hear about your concern for Montana. A photo of the open sores may help us provide more information. We would be concerned about things like bacterial infection, fungal infection, parasites of the skin (fleas, mites), a reaction to a topical product like a flea medication or other product applied to the skin, and more. I would recommend bringing Montana into the vet for an examination because most of these cases do require medications to be prescribed to treat this situation.

The one on her stomach looks like a collarette. these can occur secondary to an infection from allergies or getting scratched or bitten by something that cause irritation. The ones on her back are small scabs/pustules. These do benefit from antibiotics along with a medicated shampoo. You can give a bath once a week to help keep the coat and skin rinsed and cleaned. You can apply neosporin to the large one until you can get to a vet

That could be compatible with an infection possible with fungal infection. Bacterial infection could be possible as well though. I would strongly recommend a check up and more investigations (skin scrapes and sampling) to confirm this clinical suspicion and give appropriate treatment.
