My dog is bleeding after spay surgery and diarrhea. What should I do?

Yes, I would be concerned - especially due to the presence of blood. Vomiting, diarrhea, lethargy and rapid breathing are not specific signs of any one disease process or illness. Many things can cause these symptoms so it is best to get Lucy checked out by your vet. It may not be anything terribly serious but if you have her checked out it willl give you peace of mind. Some potential causes: dietary indiscretion (eating something she shouldn't have, gastrointestinal obstruction, hemorrhagic gastroenteritis, toxin exposure/ingestion, internal parasites, gastric/colonic ulceration, viral or bacterial infection just to name a few. It is not an emergency in this precise moment unless Lucy is lethargic and uncomfortable. I would recommend that she is checked over first thing in the morning or as soon as your vet is open as she will benefit with some medications that promote gut motility and some pain relief, as well as symptomatical treatment for the diarrhoea. She could also start to be dehydrated, so I would really suggest for her to be checked over.

As long as Cocoa is acting normally otherwise you can probably wait to go to the veterinarian first thing tomorrow morning. However, if she shows any other abnormal signs then I would recommend going to the emergency veterinarian tonight. She may have a urinary tract infection, which although uncomfortable, is not an emergency to be seen immediately. There's a very small chance this could be related to something called stump pyometra which is an infection of the uterine stump in spayed female dogs. A stump pyometra can be an emergency, however usually would result in lethargy, fever, or inappetance. This is a highly unusual situation, and in my 10 years of being a vet I have never heard of a male dog attempting to have sex with a spayed female dog. However, what is most important now is getting Lucille out from under the bed and getting the bleeding stopped. I would suggest gently nudging her out from under the bed with the long handle of a broom (using a sweeping motion and not poking her with it) or consider dismantling the bed and removing it in order to gain access to her. Once you have her, place a lead around her neck so that she cannot hide again. You will need to apply direct pressure to the vaginal area in order to stem the bleeding. Hopefully no arteries were torn and the bleeding is not as profuse as you think it is. Once you have pressure on the wound you will need to again try to reach the vet in your area. She may have tearing that needs to be addressed ASAP in order to prevent infection and further blood loss. Adding ice to your compress may provide some constriction of the vessels and slow bleeding until you can reach veterinary care.

I do not see redness, swelling or discharge draining out. However, pictures can be deceiving. I am more worried that she is not eating. The diarrhea needs to be addressed as well. The veterinarian will examine her and take her temperature. A fever, for example, can indicate an infection. If you stopped her medications, which is reasonable given the diarrhea, she may be very painful now though. This too can affect appetite. The veterinarian will guide you on any testing or treatment options. In the meantime, keep her quiet, encourage her to drink so she doesn't become dehydrated and do not give any over-the-counter pain medications as these can be toxic to dogs. It sounds as Dahlia is suffering from a gastrointestinal condition, possibly an infection. it could also be due to ingestion of a foreign body material. i would recommend taking her to the vet the first chance you get, she will need to be checked first, if the vet thinks it's a simple gastrointestinal infection she will need an antibiotic course and a special food for a few days in order to get better.
