I found a black mole on my dog's dewclaw pad. Could it be melanoma?

If you are concerned, a vet can biopsy the area to confirm but you can just continue to monitor at this time. Good luck and kisses to Milli!

If at any point, he develops an actual raised mass, then have him evaluated by your veterinarian for further assessment and treatment. Good luck!

You will need to have this examined by your veterinarian as this could either be a harmless wart or it could be a beginning melanoma which may need to be removed while it is small. It is not possible to determine what exactly this is just from a photo. Please make an appointment with your vet.

If yes then I think it is a scar form when the breeder had the front dewclaws removed when he was a few days old. If it is a new spot that wasn't there before it could be an abrasion or an area of skin infection. I wish you the best!

This is often differentiated by a test called a fine needle aspirate (FNA) which is a pain free, inexpensive and easy procedure which in most cases will help reach a diagnosis. Hello. In all honesty, all lumps & bumps should be investigated. I can not say with any certainty whether this is a benign or malignant tumor, a cyst or an infection. It really needs a hands on examination, possibly with a small biopsy called a fine needle aspirate, to determine its make-up.
