My dog's belly pimple burst and is bleeding dark blood. What now?

This looks like it could be a cyst or a skin tumor like a hemangioma. I find that once a skin growth ruptures it tends to happen again, so I would definitely recommend making an appointment to see your veterinarian. They will probably recommend surgically removing this growth.

This looks like a possible mass that has a really good blood supply or even a blood blister. I would try applying a cold compress on it for 5-10 minutes, if a vet is not readily available. If you can get the bleeding to stop tonight I would leave it be for now and then get this checked in the morning by your vet if possible. However if you cannot get the bleeding to stop even after the cold compress and perhaps even placing a make-shift wrap around it, then an ER vet visit has to be considered to stabilize the area. However, an ER vet visit is usually only needed if it is gushing blood, for fear or too much blood loss. If it is oozing then it likely can wait until morning before seeking veterinary assistance. The picture you posted does not look like a pimple, so I am worried that it is actually a mass. Anytime a new mass is noticed, I always recommend having it evaluated to see what it is and if anything needs to be done about it. Unfortunately, we often can't tell anything about a mass by just looking at it. Your vet can perform a simple test called a fine needle aspirate where they use a small needle to collect some cells from the mass, then look at them under the microscope. They may even need to send the cells to the lab for a pathologist to examine them, so we know what the mass is. If it is benign, you might not need to do anything about the mass at all, but if they see cells that worry them, they might recommend removing the mass. If the area is infected, then your veterinarian may prescribe oral or injectible antibiotics to resolve it. Good luck! I hope that was helpful. Hi, sometimes dogs can get blood blisters usually on their underside. If it's not bothering her, leave it alone. Iy may go away on its own or stay there. If you think she's bothered by it, she should see a vet about getting it removed. But it doesn't mean anything bad is going on. Good luck, I hope this helps!

If the lump continues to weep blood and pus, he should be re-examined by your vet. If it is an abscess/pustule then your dog will need an antibiotic. Your vet can perform a fine needle aspirate to help determine the type of lump. You can also spray the lump with an over the counter product, like Vetericyn Plus Spray and see if that helps.

That area could be a ruptured abscess, a ruptured cyst or the previous home of a worm larvae. You can continue treating it like you are. Make sure Eleven wears and elizabethan collar at all times to prevent any licking which could make it worse. If Jack has had this lump for a while, then it is likely a tumor and these can easily bleed sometimes. They do tend to bleed for a while, but don't worry, because he will not lose too much blood and it will stop eventually. You can help stop the bleeding by taking a clean rag or gauze and apply pressure to the wound. Hold it there for at least 3 minutes and try not to move, because movements will keep the blood from clotting. Do not wipe the wound either. After the three minutes, gently release pressure and check to see if it's still bleeding. If it's still bleeding, apply pressure again for 3 minutes. After it's done bleeding, it would be good to have a veterinarian check the lump if you are suspicious of it being a tumor. It's not an emergency, but good to have it checked sometime soon, so the vet can determine what type of tumor it is and if it needs to be removed.
