Dog's belly bruised after liver biopsy. Is it just normal healing?

It's hard to tell from the pictures, but it looks like there might be a small puncture near the bruised area? This would mean that Rosie was bitten on the abdomen. These types of injuries could be associated with internal damage, and should warrant immediate veterinary care. Most likely, t could also be a simple insect bite or minor trauma that resolves on its own within a couple of days. However, I'd recommend monitoring that bruise for any changes and the rest of his skin and gums for new bruising or bleeding. Mysterious bruises can be a sign of blood disorders. OK, that is a valuable piece of history and makes me much less concerned. A tight bandage could explain the bruising and certain drugs used during the surgery could account for it. If Danny is doing OK and acting normally, then no need to rush off to the emergency vet. I would just call your vet that did the surgery and ask to have them check it out at their next availability.

Poor Skye! This could be due to her chronically licking that area, a yeast infection, or even allergies. From the picture it looks more like it is on the surface of the skin and the skin may even be a little thickened in that area but it is difficult to say for sure without being able to touch it and see it in person. If this isn’t the case, then yes I would worry about bruising and I would try to get her seen by a vet soon. Bruising like this could indicate a clotting issue which could be auto-immune or due to certain toxins. Early intervention is key for a positive outcome. If it seems like it is just the skin then I would put a cone collar on her to prevent licking and you can try benadryl twice a day to see if This helps. See link below. So sorry to hear that Spock is having this issue. Yes, it sure could be related. One of the jobs of the liver is to make clotting factors. If the liver is not working it can no longer make these factors so Spock;s blood may not be able to clot appropriately. I would be a worried about this and I think you should get Spock back to your vet to have that checked. Hope this answers your question. Best wishes.
