Why does my dog's breath smell awful after neuter antibiotics?

Some antibiotics can cause gastrointestinal upset. I would have expected that to resolve once the antibiotics were discontinued. Since he has vomited and continues to have a soft stool, you may need to have a fecal samples checked and obtain abdominal x-rays to rule out a foreign body.

This is likely a coincidence than anything. He could have eaten something at the park to make his breath smell back. It is unlikely from her prepuce/penis. If he produced some smegma which can sometimes smell bad. Even neutered dogs can produce this occasionally. I would try to brush his mouth or add a water additive to try to freshen his breath. If the smell continues or if he continues to lick his prepuce/penis a lot I would have your vet check both out to ensure they look okay. I hope this helps!

The flatulence is gross and scary, but not medically dangerous. The antibiotics may by upsetting Freybug's stomach a bit. Don't stop the antibiotics, since they are important for clearing up her skin. You can give her some probiotics and feed her a bland diet of chicken and rice for a week to help settle her stomach. If she's having diarrhea or vomiting, let your vet know and they may be able to switch her to a different antibiotic. Good luck!

This may be present due to something affecting his gastrointestinal system and/or his respiratory system for example. If this continues, I recommend you have Ace evaluated by a veterinarian for further assessment and treatment. Yes the medications (anesthetics and antibiotics if used) can cause digestive upsets fater surgery. Bland, small low fat meals fed little and often and a probioitc such as fortiflora can help. If he is weak and unwell you should have him checled by your vet to rule out a fever or infection of the wound

I recommend that you have him evaluated by your veterinarian for further assessment and treatment. They can flush it and clean it well and start him on antibiotics. He will get better on the right therapy. They can also examine him for possible causes of vomiting such as gastroenteritis and perhaps start him on something for nausea. Have a good night!

Is he still on the antibiotics? If so maybe you could call and request a different medication? If he is no longer taking the medication and he is still vomiting then she should have a follow up appointment. It is possible that it is just coincidental with the neutering and he could have a foreign body in his stomach, or a parasite causing him to vomit.
