Dog ate plants in new yard, now has tremors. How to find toxic ones?

I am afraid many toxic plants can cause that, so it is not possible to tell you what kind of plant that was. A photo of the plant, leaves, flower and root would help with the identification. Best either stop access of your dog to this plant (fence it) or remove the plant so he cannot eat more of it.

Yes, you should be worried. He could have eaten something poisonous or possibly ingested something that either irritated his stomach or is causing an obstruction. Please get him to your vet for an exam as soon as you can.

I have not heard of nor could I find any reference to poison oak causing neurologic signs in dogs. I would recommend a couple of things. First, make sure you have the plant identified correctly. You might take some of it to your local garden center to have them help identify it for you. Neurological signs can be very worrisome, so I would certainly do some more investigation to get to the bottom of things. Mushroom identification can be tricky even for experienced mushroom hunters. Your best bet would be to contact your local Extension Office and submit a sample for identification. Most species are non toxic, causing nothing worse than some stomach upset, but some species can be deadly. It would be safest to keep your pets away from them until you can positively identify them.

It can certainly cause vomiting and diarrhea and she could be shaking from dehydration for instance. All these symptoms could be making Sammy uncomfortable. For this reason, I do think that Sammy should be evaluated by a veterinarian as soon as possible. You may take her to your local emergency clinic tonight. They would be able to treat her symptomatically and check for dehydration and treat her accordingly.
