My dog ate super glue. What should I do and when to call the vet?

Did he eat the whole tube or did he just chew the tube? If he just chewed the tube and can still move his tongue, eat and drink, then likely he will not have a problem as whatever glue may be in his mouth probably will get shed and swallowed in a non-sticky form. However if he chewed and swallowed the superglue tube then this is an emergency and he will need to be seen by a vet right now.

Oh Trixie is a cutie! So the main concern with most artificial nail glues really is just if they get enough in their eyes or on their lips to glue them closed. Since it doesn't sound like this occurred trixie will likely be ok. But there are many different types of nail adhesive so you can always call aspca poison control to read them the exact ingredients in the type trixie chewed on. Nail glue could cause irritation to the oral cavity or nausea and vomiting, but if only a small amount was ingested I doubt you'll see any signs. If Hiraku seems to be licking frequently, drooling, vomits or has a decrease in appetite I'd recommend seeing a vet.

I can't find anything in my resources that suggests that this is toxic to dogs, and I've never seen a case where a dog got sick eating it. I would suspect that since this product was distributed for children, it's likely non-toxic. However, the ASPCA's poison control hotline for pets may help. Hello, sorry to hear about Charlie. He may need to have that removed or at least monitored with x-ray to make sure that it does not cause an obstruction. Please have him evaluated by your veterinarian soon. If it is not a large glue trap, they may be able to induce vomiting so that he can expel it and avoid further complications. Superglue is made up of the same components as tissue glue, so it is not toxic. That said, if your dog has an ear infection and the super glue has glued the ear canal shut, you will need to take Kima to a vet to have it removed. Buy some Super glue remover to take with you, just in case, but do NOT instill it into her ear. This is something the vet needs to do while properly cleaning the ear and making sure there is no damage done during the process. If the ear canal is open, then it is likely that eventually the superglue will come off by itself.
