My dog ate salami. Can it cause pancreatitis, and how serious is it?

Oh that was naughty of Snuggles to eat the spaghetti! Luckily, spaghetti itself isn't very fatty, but I would be concerned about the sauce used on it. Butter based sauces or sauces that contain garlic and onion can cause problems in her. Both onion and garlic are toxic to dogs, and if the spaghetti had garlic or onion in it, I would have her seen by a vet immediately for decontamination procedures to prevent toxicity from occurring. If it was just plain spaghetti, hopefully she should be ok.

Yes. Unfortunately cookie dough is not good for dogs. He could have pancreatitis but he could also have salmonella. If the dough had chocolate chips those can also be toxic to dogs. You need to get him back to the vet for treatment - both pancreatitis and salmonella can be deadly if left untreated. Pancreatitis can also cause permanent damage to the pancreas making this a lifelong condition. I highly recommend you not feed him anything but food made for dogs in the future. Best wishes.

There is the potential the pork fat could make Charlie sick, and it could cause him pancreatitis again. I would monitor him and if you do see signs of pancreatitis, take him into a vet immediately. You could take him into a vet now to have vomiting induced to get the fat out so there won't be any problems. Best of luck.

The concerning thing about prosciutto is the amount of fat in it, which can cause pancreatitis in dogs. Pancreatitis is a life threatening inflammation of the pancreas, and requires intensive veterinary treatment when an animal is affected by it. I would take Scotty into the vet, especially if he is vomiting, appears lethargic, and/or anorexic.

With pancreatitis, it is typically caused by them eating something that they were not supposed too. Usually from human food. I agree that changing Shadow's diet to a bland diet and keeping him on antibiotics (not long term) will be beneficial for him. Pancreatitis can be serious and is usually painful. Pancreatitis is inflammation of the pancreas. It can be caused secondary to any type of inflammation in the stomach or possible high fat diet. IF Olive ate cat poop than started vomiting. It is possible the vomiting cause pancreatitis but the poop just caused gastric upset. Pancreatitis can be mild where patient recovers fast or can be really severe where patient needs hospitalized. I have not personally seen a case of pancreatitis due to mold. However if the mold caused vomiting or diarrhea it is possible. It can affect the white blood cells in the body. Typically the wbc do increase with this disease because of inflammation. hope that helps

Pancreatitis is typically caused by the ingestion of fatty foods such as bacon, pepperoni, greasy or buttery foods, or something rotten that they found outside or in the garbage, etc. I have never seen or heard of a case of pancreatitis being caused by any vaccinations, including Rabies. Labs and lab mixes are notorious for eating things that they shouldn't. Is there any possiblitiy that she may have gotten ahold of something that she shouldn't have either in the house or outside? Many "people foods" can cause pancreatitis in dogs. I hope she is on the road to recovery.
