My Shih Tzu puppy ate a rubber toy. Should I take him to the vet?

If Rigby ate the gem within the last 2-3 hours, I recommend trying to induce vomiting by giving 1 teaspoon of hydrogen peroxide by mouth. You can use a turkey baster to give it orally. If this doesn't make Rigby vomit within 15 minutes, you can repeat this once. If this doesn't work, you can bring Rigby to a veterinarian to have them induce vomiting. Otherwise, you can monitor Rigby for the development of any GI signs such as vomiting or decreased appetite. I would be worried about the possibility of the gem/toy causing a blockage of the intestines. This is a surgical emergency. I recommend also monitoring Rigby's stools for passage of the toy. I would definitely bring Milo to your veterinarian as soon as possible so they can induce vomiting and try to get the rubber bands out of his stomach. Rubber bands have the potential to become foreign body obstructions, meaning they can get stuck either in the stomach or intestines. If this occurs, this is a surgical emergency, which can cost several thousand dollars. There is a chance he could pass the rubber bands in his feces, but I do not believe it is worth the risk. If you are unable to get to a veterinarian within an hour, you can try to induce vomiting at home by giving him 1/2 of a teaspoon of hydrogen peroxide. I hope this is helpful!

Oh no, that was naughty of Juno! The problem with a nylon bone is that it can become stuck in the GI tract. You can wait to see if it passes, which is might, but the problem with that is if it doesn't, surgery will need to be done to remove an obstruction. You can take her into the vet immediately, and if the vet feels it's a safe option, they can induce vomiting to remove the piece of the toy. Otherwise you can monitor Juno for the next 72 hours. If you see any signs of obstruction which include vomiting, diarrhea, anorexia, lethargy, and constipation, then you will need to take her into a vet right away.

If Mary ate these items within the past 2 hours, then you should take her to a pet ER right away, where she can receive an injection to make her vomit. that way the plastic does not enter the intestines and cause an obstruction. Please take her to a pet ER now.
