My dog ate promethazine. Will she be okay? What symptoms to watch?

Well that's not good! Overdose is uncommon but it can produce excitement, seizures, lethargy, comas, and respiratory depression. More than likely, Zoey will be more sedate than usual, but if you see any of those signs I mentioned above, take her into a vet immediately. Best of luck.

If you gave the medication as your vet prescribed it she should probably be fine. In rare cases of overdose adverse reactions include changes in mentation (depression, nervousness, restlessness) and behavior. It may also cause sedation. Not to worry! 35mg of acepromazine is still within a normal dosage range for a dog Botticelli's size. She may be extra groggy and have a longer nap than usual, but there should be no other detrimental effects. :-)

If your dog did ingest just one pill she will probably be ok. There are not a lot of studies of ambien usage in dogs but it has been found that it can cause "paradoxical excitation" which means instead of calling your dog it may make her more energetic and excitable. This side effect should go away once the drug is out of her system. If she is still acting abnormal in about 12-24 hours then you should take her in to the vet to be evaluated.

This is at the upper limit of a safe dosage for dogs, so he should probably be OK. I wouldn't recommend attempting to induce vomiting for Kado anymore, because it likely won't be effective and may cause more harm than good at this time. I expect Kado will be rather hyperactive tonight, but if he starts to appear disoriented, vomits, or starts having seizures, then he should go to the emergency vet. It's not likely that you'll have to do this, but it's good to just check on her periodically throughout the night. If she's fine by the morning, then there will be no further concerns about toxicity. Oh no, it's not good that Bella ate the metronidazole tablet! There is a wide range of doses for metronidazole for dogs depending on the condition being treated, and at her weight and the dose she ate, the tablet is within the range of doses. It's on the higher end, but still within the dose range. That being said, you could see some side effects from eating this medication, such as GI upset. Excessive salivation, gagging, nausea, vomiting, and decreased appetite are the most common side effects seen. If you see any of those signs, withhold food for 8-12 hours, then feed her a bland diet of boiled white meat chicken (no bones) and white rice in small amounts several times a day for a couple of days. Then slowly add back in her normal diet. Rarely you can see neurological disorders from an accidental overdose, but she likely may not show these signs due to her not overdosing. It's just something I will mention you should be aware of, and if you see anything concerning or she won't stop vomiting, won't eat the bland diet, and/or becomes very lethargic, take her into a vet right away. At the high end of the dose range for Benazepril, Maui's dose would be about 13.6mg so she has not had a toxic dose. You may see symptoms such as vomiting, diarrhea, lethargy, weakness, etc. If you see these symptoms, I would get her in to be seen by a veterinarian as soon as possible.
