My Yorkie ate Benazepril for a larger animal. Will she be okay?

The best you can do if it has been more than an hour since he ingested it is to watch for symptoms of toxicity like: tremors, seizures, ataxia (walking drunk/unsteady), extreme lethargy, vomiting, etc. If you notice any symptoms get him to an emergency clinic ASAP. As an aside, according to studies done by Zoetis who make Simparica, "In the overdose groups, transient and self-limiting neurological signs were observed in some animals: mild tremors at 3 times the maximum exposure dose and convulsions at 5 times the maximum exposure dose. 25mg of Vetprofen is a large dose for such a small dog. Recommended dosing is usually 12.5mg for a dog his size. I do not know how much medication he has already received at your vet but signs of toxicity usually occur with >20mg/kg doses. Basil could develop gastrointestinal signs including vomiting, GI bleeding, and diarrhea. He should be watched closely and he should not receive another dose for 24 hours or longer if signs of illness occur.

Other signs include lethargy, excess salivation, increased heart rate, vomiting, diarrhea, weakness, and cough. If you see any of those signs, rush him into a vet immediately. I hope this helps!

Well that's not good! Overdose is uncommon but it can produce excitement, seizures, lethargy, comas, and respiratory depression. More than likely, Zoey will be more sedate than usual, but if you see any of those signs I mentioned above, take her into a vet immediately. Best of luck.

Hi, Lisinopril is used in the treatment of both heart failure and hypertension (high blood pressure) in dogs. In dogs required the drug the safe dose is 0.5 mg/kg which in the case of 13 lb (6.5 kg) puppy that would be 3.25mg which makes 10mg an overdose. Overdose may cause lethargy, increased heart rate, vomiting, and hypotension (low blood pressure). Seek veterinary care immediately. If it has happened less than an hour ago the vet may be able to induce vomiting. If not he will need to be monitored and supportive care depending on signs.
