My dog ate Proin. Is it safe to induce vomiting with peroxide?

Havoc should be absolutely fine after ingesting the Proin tablet! He ingested approximately 4.4 mg/kg (milligrams per kilogram of body weight), and more serious signs of toxicity usually occur with doses over 15 mg/kg. There is a chance that Havoc may experience agitation, vomiting, decreased heart rate or elevated blood pressure. While these signs generally resolve within 24 hours of ingestion, it would be ideal to take Havoc to his vet for an exam and blood pressure measurement. I hope this helps!

Proin starts to be toxic at about 15mg/kg. Kobi ingested just over 6.8mg/kg and at that dose the most common side effects are mild hypertension (high blood pressure) and bradycardia (slow heart rate). Of course, every dog is different. I suggest you have Koji examined by your veterinarian especially if you are noticing any abnormal behavior. Other adverse effects can potentially be seen even at therapeutic doses. They include restlessness, urine retention, anorexia (not wanting to eat), tachycardia (increased heart rate), and hypertension (high blood pressure). Stroke-like signs have been reported rarely. Other rare clinical manifestations of toxicosis may include piloerection (hairs standing up on end), vomiting, tachypnea (fast breathing), anxiety or agitation, hyperthermia (increased body temperature), tachycardia, tremors, and potential seizures.

Yes, it's okay to miss a dose if you're not sure whether she got it or not - just make sure that she gets her next scheduled dose on time :) It's possible that she may have some extra urine leakage today due to the missed dose, but it should not cause any other problems.

You will need to call your Vet for instructions to induce vomiting. Hydrogen peroxide causes vomiting by irritating the stomach lining and can cause inflammation of the esophagus. We can't prescribe dosing of hydrogen peroxide on Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach. Peroxide can be damaging to the esophagus and stomach as it causes a lot of inflammation and irritation. Taking her to a vet so they can give an injectable medicine to induce vomiting is an option. The concern is it has potential to get stuck half way up and cause problems if lodged there. Sometimes this will not pass through the intestines and will require surgery to be removed. Having her asses by a vet now would be best. If not you should monitor for vomiting, lethargy, anorexia and diarrhea

Hi there! Good job thinking quickly and inducing vomiting. I would still recommend Dexter be seen by a veterinarian, for 2 reasons: 1) potassium in large doses can potentially have effects on major organs. Your veterinarian will be able to do a through examination as well as preform blood work to check potassium levels as well as administer treatment if necessary. Sometimes IV fluids and/or other medications may be necessary, 2) hydrogen peroxide can be very hard on the stomach and intestinal lining, your veterinarian may recommend medications to protect the gastrointestinal tract. Also fluids would help Dexter feel better after all the vomiting and IV (in a vein) is the quickest way to replenish those electrolytes. If Dexter’s attitude has changed or he continues to vomit for more than a hour, or you aren’t seeing pills in the vomit he absolutely needs to be seen by a veterinarian as soon as possible. Oh no, that was naughty of Phoebe to eat the pad! I do not recommend inducing her to vomit at home with peroxide (H2O2). The reason is that H2O2 can and does cause severe esophagitis and gastritis, often worse than the initial problem, so it's always preferred to advise emergency care. Also, we have no way of knowing whether the dog is debilitated and has a greater chance of aspirating. The best thing to do is have her seen by an ER vet now to safely induce vomiting with a shot to get the pad out of her to prevent an obstruction. Otherwise, you can watch her for signs of obstruction with include vomiting, anorexia, lethargy, diarrhea, and/or constipation. If you see any of those signs, she will need to see a vet immediately.
