My small dog ate a plastic dice. Is it dangerous? What should I do?

If Rigby ate the gem within the last 2-3 hours, I recommend trying to induce vomiting by giving 1 teaspoon of hydrogen peroxide by mouth. You can use a turkey baster to give it orally. If this doesn't make Rigby vomit within 15 minutes, you can repeat this once. If this doesn't work, you can bring Rigby to a veterinarian to have them induce vomiting. Otherwise, you can monitor Rigby for the development of any GI signs such as vomiting or decreased appetite. I would be worried about the possibility of the gem/toy causing a blockage of the intestines. This is a surgical emergency. I recommend also monitoring Rigby's stools for passage of the toy. That's a tough one. Simba is so tiny, so a palm size sheet of plastic could possibly cause an obstruction or could pass through in the stool. Your options are to wait and hope it passes, but take him to the vet if he starts vomiting or having a decreased appetite or energy level for x-rays and possible emergency surgery. OR, you take him to an emergency clinic now that has an endoscope and see if they can remove it (which would still require general anesthesia and may not be successful because the plastic may just fall apart when they try to pull it out). There's not a clear right answer here because their are risks with both options. I'd give him a 50-70% chance of passing it on his own. I wish I could give you a more definite answer, but I hope that helps you decide how you want to proceed.

This type of toy may pass through his G.I. tract: It could also cause an obstruction or blockage and require surgery to remove. If Harry has any vomiting, decreased appetite, seems painful or week he needs to be checked out by a veterinarian immediately.

I would recommend to contact a Pet poison control or a veterinarian in your area with the information of what type of medication the relaxer is, how much Dice ate, and how much Dice weighs. They will be able to give you more information and let you know whether or not he needs to be treated.

If it was ingested within the past hour, you can take him to the ER and have them induce vomiting to see if they can get it back out. That size has a good chance of getting stuck somewhere along the intestinal tract but could potentially pass. Signs of a blockage are vomiting, lack of appetite, belly pain, and/or lethargy.

As long as he is eating and drinking normally, I would not be concerned. If he begins to vomit or loses his appetite, then I would recommend having a veterinarian take a look at him and perform some diagnostic testing such as x-rays to help rule out a foreign body obstruction from the plastic. If he chewed it into small enough bits, it may pass on its own. If he swallowed big chunks, there is a risk of obstruction. Monitor for lethargy, vomiting, diarrhea, loss of appetite or abdominal pain. Seek veterinary attention if Cody develops any of these symptoms.
