Oh no, that's not good! Keep a close eye on Roxy for now. The fact from this can cause pancreatitis. If you see vomiting, diarrhea, abdominal pain, a hunched up appearance, lethargy, or a loss of appetite, have her seen by a vet immediately.

Mmm pizza! This amount of pizza may not cause a problem to Lola, so I'd keep an eye on her for now. The biggest issue I would be worried about is pancreatitis from the fat. Signs of that include vomiting, abdominal pain, lethargy, anorexia, and diarrhea. If you see any of those signs, take her into a vet right away. Best of luck.

Thank for submitting your question regarding Zarah. Yes, I would recommend that she sees an emergency veterinarian today. I am concerned that she may have pancreatitis. This is an inflammation of the pancreas triggered by high fat food. Typical signs are vomiting, diarrhea and abdominal pain. Most dogs recover well with treatment, but others can become very ill. For this reason, you would not want to wait another day for your veterinarian to open. She is likely dehydrated from the vomiting and diarrhea as well.
The blood in the stool is likely the result of inflammation in the colon, but needs to be treated. I hope this information helps and she is able to receive treatment soon. Good luck!

It is unlikely that there was enough onion present to cause a problem, but eating that much pizza will likely cause some gastroenteritis (inflammation of the stomach and intestines) which could lead to vomiting and diarrhea. He could also develop pancreatitis. If he starts vomiting, having diarrhea, isn't wanting to eat, or seems lethargic, please take him to your vet for treatment. In the meantime, withhold for at least 12 hours, then offer small amounts of. a bland diet such as boiled chicken and white rice for the next couple of days. Onions will cause oxidative damage to the red blood cells which can result in anemia. If the onions are going to be an issue, it will be a few days before you would see this, and generally would present as decreased appetite and lethargy. If those symptoms are noted, get him in to your vet for bloodwork. Hi, thanks for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach! Pizza in and of it's self is not toxic. If there was an excessive amount of onions then maybe. Otherwise one of 2 things may happen: 1) Nothing! 2) Molly develops vomiting and/or diarrhea from an upset stomach or pancreas. It isn't wrong to feed her a bland diet for a few days. Boil chicken breast or hamburger and mix with rice. Feed 1 cup per 20 lbs per day for 3-5 days. I hope this helps and I wish Molly the best!

That was naughty of her. No she should be just fine. She may have just a mild stomach upset if anything. A bland diet of boiled plain chicken and rice or cottage cheese for a few days can be given if needed then slowly transition her back to her normal diet. Best wishes and take care of Ms. Roxy.

My dog ate a large supreme pizza with onions. What should I do?

Oh no, that wasn't good that Stimpy at the pizza and onions. You are correct that onions are toxic, but the pizza itself also poses a big problem. Pizza is fatty and greasy, and that amount of fat and grease could be enough to trigger pancreatitis. Pancreatitis is extremely painful, very serious, and can be fatal. The toxic dose for onions is 15-30 grams per 1kg body weight. For him, that would be 422-845 grams of onions. The pizza likely did not contain that amount of onions, so I am more worried about the fat and grease. You need to monitor him closely. If Stimpy starts vomiting, becomes anorexia, has a painful abdomen, hunched back, distended abdomen, and/or lethargy, those can be signs of pancreatitis and he has to see a vet immediately. That is a lot of food! You need to keep an eye on Roscoe closely. If you see vomiting, a bloated stomach, trying to vomiting but can't, restlessness, pacing, anxiety, and/or excessive drooling, take him into vet immediately. By the way, he is ADORABLE! I have an adult basset hound, they are great dogs.

If you are worried she ingested an object, like a sock or shoe then you would watch for signs of gastrointestinal upset such as vomiting, anorexia, abdominal pain, lethargy, or straining to defecate. If you are worried about a toxin ingestion these signs can vary widely and can include GI upset, rapid breathing or heart rate, excessive drooling, trembling, seizures, drunken appearance/gait, dilated pupils, pale gums, lethargy. If any of these signs occur seek veterinary care right away.

My puppy ate pizza and is now vomiting, has diarrhea, won't eat.

Hi, thanks for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach! Poor Shadow! Some dogs can not handle people food due to sensitive stomachs. Shadow is a bit young to be fed pizza. It likely caused inflammation of his stomach and intestines or pancreatitis. he could also be vomiting and not eating for other reasons: foreign body ingestion (something is stuck requiring surgery), viral (parvo) or bacterial infections, intestinal parasites, toxin ingestion, other food allergies or sensitivities. Since Shadow is so young if he is still vomiting I recommend he see your Vet today. If the vomiting has stopped I would try to feed him a bland diet of boiled chicken or hamburger with rice. Feed 1 cup per 20 lbs per day for 3-5 days then transition him back to his puppy food. If he continue to not eat he should be seen by your Vet before the weekend.
