My dog ate ground meat with garlic and pepper. Is it toxic for him?
Hi there and thank you for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach. Garlic can be toxic to dogs in large quantity. Though more toxic in cats we can see symptoms in dogs from onions and garlic. Most commonly though we will see vomiting and diarrhea. More sever symptoms include abdominal pain, inappetance, collapse, increased heart rate, etc. I would monitor for the next 24 hours and feed a bland diet as outlined below. Feed this for the next 3-5 days and then transition back to the normal diet. If you notice any new symptoms, I would recommend having a veterinarian examine Falcon so that the most appropriate diagnostic and treatment recommendations can be made. I hope this helps! Please let me know if you have any other questions or concerns and I would be more than happy to help you further.
