My dog ate pears, now shaking, vomiting, and cold. Is he sick?

Withhold food for 12 hours then offer him boiled boneless chicken and rice every 6 hours in small portions. if he is eating and not vomiting, continue with this diet for 2 days. After 2 days, you can put him back gradually on his normal food. If he continues vomiting or is not eating, take him to the vet to get treatment.

Balsam pears can be toxic to dogs, causing vomiting, diarrhea and abdominal pain. You can try withholding all food for 24 hours. Allow small amounts of water or unflavored PediaLyte. Resume feeding a bland diet in small, frequent amounts. Begin with one tablespoon of food every hour and gradually increase the amount if there is no vomiting. Once the vomiting stops, continue feeding until the stool is normal then transition slowly to her regular diet. Have Jill examined by your veterinarian if symptoms do not resolve or if she becomes lethargic, loses her appetite or develops tremors, rapid heart rate or ataxia (wobbly gait).

Poor Roxy! I'm concerned that something she ingested could have been toxic or caused something severe like an intestinal obstruction or pancreatitis. I recommend having Roxy examined by a veterinarian right away. She may need X-rays or blood work to ensure she does not need surgery or extensive treatment. Muchacho sounds like he definitely sick. Just like humans, pets can vomit and not feel well for many reasons. The illness could be due to many conditions including eating something he shouldn't have, bacterial over growth, parasites (worms and giardia) or even something more severe like organ dysfunction or intestinal blockage. Onions are toxic to pets. The low body temperature and shivering a signs of serious illness. Also given the fact that he is vomiting and has no appetite, this could also be indicative of a serious illness. I recommend to have your pup examined by the veterinarian today. If this is serious, the sooner he gets treatment, the better. Remember to take in a stool sample just in case. He may need some diagnostics like bloodwork or x-rays. Hi shaking can be a vague sign, of having a temperature or being in pain, or something more specific like having eaten mouldy food for example. I would try to offer Bruce some light diet, and monitor over the next few hours. Hope this helps.

It sounds as your pet is suffering from a gastrointestinal condition, possibly an infection. it could also be due to ingestion of a foreign body material. i would recommend taking him to the vet urgently, he will need to be checked first, if the vet thinks it's a simple gastrointestinal infection he will need an anti vomiting injection, antibiotics and a special food for a few days in order to get better. . if the vet thinks it is more serious he will need a blood test and possibly an ultrasound in order to find out what is wrong.

Hello and thank you for contacting Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach. It would be extremely unlikely that the vomiting on Friday is related to raisin ingestion on Monday. It was a very small amount of raisins that Bubba ate. Typically symptoms of raisins intoxication are seen within 2-3 days after ingestion. I suspect Bubba could be vomiting because of upset stomach, gastroenteritis, infection or dietary indiscretion. Shaking is probably also related to vomiting and nausea. You should follow your vet recommendations, offer Bubba small amounts of bland food every few hours and make sure he is drinking water. Typical stomach upset should resolve within 2-3 days.
