My small dog ate a Sentinel Spectrum pill for a bigger dog. Is she okay?

Even though Sentinel spectrum is not licensed for cats, in this case there should be no problem with this medication and dosage as the ingredients (milbemycin oxime, lufenuron and praziquantel) each are licensed for cats. There is not enough of each in the 2-8lbs dog dosage to hurt your kitty. I suggest you hide the rest of the sentinel so Maurice does not find it. Praziquantel tends to sometimes make cats vomit, so this could happen within the next 30 minutes or so. This should not be a problem.

Reports of side effects and adverse reactions with this medication are very rare and are associated with GI signs such as (vomiting, a decreased appetited, and nausea). Hillary should be able to tolerate this double dose, however if you note any of these signs persisting over 3-5 days, then have your veterinarian evaluate Hillary. Hi there. No, this should not cause any problems. These two medications do not have any harmful interactions, and Sentinel has a very wide margin of safety so accidentally giving the next size up for your dog's weight would not be expected to cause any issues.

Hello, thank you for using PetCoach. I understand your concern but Max should be just fine. It does not appear that he got an overdose. If he was a breed with a known sensitivity to Ivermectin I would be more worried (herding dogs, collie breeds, etc). Here is a link to Ivermectin toxicity so you can know what to watch for but I don't think he will have any issues. Usually they will present with neurological symptoms. As always, if you are worried you should take him to your vet for an exam. Fortunately, those drugs do not typically interact negatively with each other and theoretically should not cause any issue. I would monitor for any vomiting, inappetence, excessive sedation, incoordination, etc. for 24 hours but wouldn't anticipate that you would see any signs. If you are concerned or she begins acting abnormally, I would recommend reaching out to your regular veterinarian or ASPCA poison control for further advice.

According to studies done by Zoetis who make Simparica, "In the overdose groups, transient and self-limiting neurological signs were observed in some animals: mild tremors at 3 times the maximum exposure dose and convulsions at 5 times the maximum exposure dose.
