My dog ate ham fat, now vomiting, dry heaving, lethargic. Help!

I would recommend you take her in. She may have some pancreatitis from the fat. (Her pancreas may have become inflamed trying to secrete enough enzymes to help digest the fat). Or it could be coincidental and she also ate part of a toy or something and has an intestinal obstruction, or maybe she has Parvovirus. A lethargic puppy is always a worry. Since she’s not wanting to play, I’d take her in. Good luck with her! I hope she feels better soon.

I am sorry Roxy is not feeling well. I would recommend taking Roxy to a veterinarian. She could have easily developed pancreatitis but she may just have a intestinal upset from it. High fat food like ham can sometimes cause pancreatitis in dogs. Some dogs can ingest an item like this with no problems, but dogs with a more sensitive GI tract may experience vomiting and diarrhea, and in rare cases may develop pancreatitis. There is the potential the pork fat could make Charlie sick, and it could cause him pancreatitis again. I would monitor him and if you do see signs of pancreatitis, take him into a vet immediately. You could take him into a vet now to have vomiting induced to get the fat out so there won't be any problems. Best of luck.

Sadie sounds very sick, and she needs to see a vet immediately. Please take her into an ER vet clinic; if there isn't one in your area, there will be a vet on call for emergencies. The information to reach that vet is found on a clinic's answering machine or website.

There can be a number of things that may be going on here and it is very hard to say what exactly is the cause without examining Ruby in person. I would recommend Ruby sees a veterinarian for a hands on exam as soon as possible to help pinpoint where the problem is. Your veterinarian may also recommend x-rays, blood work, fecal testing, or other tests to aide in an accurate diagnosis.
