My dog ate a hairbrush and phone charger. Is it an emergency?

It is important to see where the foreign object is and how large it is comparable to his intestines. It may be able to pass in his stool if it is small. If not, he could require surgery to have it removed. If he starts to vomit, refuse food or water or becomes lethargic, these are signs of a blockage. This can indicate an emergency. If you notice Jax having vomiting, diarrhea, or a decrease in appetite or energy, that could indicate the fur chunk is stuck and he needs veterinary care. If you don't notice that in the next few days, I wouldn't be too concerned, as hopefully it will have passed.

If you want to be 100% safe, have her seen at the nearest veterinary ER. Vomiting can be induced via injection which should bring the scrunchie back up. This is most successful when done within 2 hours of ingestion.

Hello. If you can account for the majority of the cable, then I would not be too concerned. Any very small pieces if swallowed will pass through the digestive tract. But over the next 3-4 days, if Filomena shows any signs of lethargy, belly pain, vomiting or loss of appetite, you will need to have her seen by your veterinarian. Oh, that's not good that Sawyer ate your toothbrush. The concern about this is that it could cause an obstruction or it could cause perforation or damage to the GI tract. I don't recommend inducing vomiting at home, as the toothbrush could get caught in his esophagus on the way out. Given his size, he may pass this without problem, but I would keep an eye on him. If you see blood in his feces, he starts vomiting, he stops eating, he stops drinking, he starts vomiting water, he has diarrhea, and/or he becomes very lethargic, I would take him into a vet immediately. I would be concerned about Snowball in that these bristles may have upset his stomach, or potentially did damage to his GI tract if they were sharp. I would monitor him tonight, and if he's still acting lethargic in the morning, I would have him seen by a vet for a health check. Should he start vomiting, become very lethargic, there's blood in the vomit, has bloody feces, or becomes anorexic, I would take him into a vet right away.
