My dog ate the green coloring off a decorative bow. Is it safe?

Without knowing how much she ate or the ingredients in it, it would be hard to say. If you can't bring Lucy to the vet, it is a good idea to keep an eye on her to watch for any signs of toxicity or obstruction which would be a medical emergency. These signs include vomiting, diarrhea, lethargy, loss of appetite, blood in the stool or vomit, attempting to vomit or defecate without success, bloated abdomen or painful abdomen. Hello, thank you for your question about Lucy. Based on the photos that you've attached I would not be overly concerned by this. Depending on your dogs diet, treats, etc they can change the color of the feces as the nutrients digest. If at any point Lucy develops diarrhea, lethargy, or vomiting I would recommend having her seen by your veterinarian. Hope this helps!

Hi there. As long as your dog is eating and drinking normally, not vomiting, and having regular bowel movements, you shouldn't need to worry. If she stops eating, or begins to vomit, then I would recommend taking her to the vet for an exam and possibly x-rays or ultrasound to see if she has an obstruction.

Hello, and thanks for your question about Willow. From your picture, it looks like she probably ingested very little if at all. She will most likely do just fine. Small pieces of plastic will typically pass without incident. If she's acting totally normal, you can monitor her for symptoms of GI upset (vomiting, decreased appetite, diarrhea, lethargy) - or to be on the safe side have her seen by your vet to get abdominal x-rays and make sure everything looks ok. Of course, if you're already seeing symptoms then send her in to be examined. But if she's acting fine, I suspect she'll be fine. :-) Hope this helps!

Not necessarily--most dogs do just fine with occasional forays into the trash! Watch for excessive vomiting that lasts longer than 1-2 hours, and be advised that Lucy might develop diarrhea at any time as well. As long as she is bright, alert, eating, and acting like her normal self there is probably no need to take her to the clinic.

If the lollipop had some sort of gum or filling, it can cause an obstruction in her intestines. If she also ate the stick, that may cause problems such as a perforation, especially if the stick was plastic. The sugar content may make Hazel slightly hyper or shaky as well. I recommend bringing her to the vet if you are worried, as any of the conditions above are easier to treat the earlier they are diagnosed. A small amount of glitter is not likely harmful. A large amount of glitter could cause significant G.I. upset because the edges are sharp.
