My dog ate smoked goat cheese, coughing, bloated. Should I worry?

Oh Cooper, mischievous Golden Retriever puppy! Cheese is not toxic but in large quantities or in patients sensitive to dairy products it can cause gastrointestinal upset. I would monitor Cooper for the development of vomiting, diarrhea, or constipation over the next 24-48 hours. If these develop, I would have him examined by his veterinarian to assess if an anti-nausea medication, probiotic, or laxative is needed.

The issue with garlic cheese in a wrapper is twofold; garlic can be toxic to dogs, and the wrapper can cause an intestinal obstruction. I would keep a close eye on Gustav (and his stool! for the next couple of days for any vomiting, diarrhea, inappetence, lethargy, or any other signs that he is feeling ill. If these are seen, I would recommend he be evaluated by his regular veterinarian right away. If there was a large amount of garlic in the cheese, I would also recommend touching base with animal poison control to see if he needs any treatment for a possible toxicity. Good luck!

While she could develop dietary indiscretion from eating something high in fat, pumping her stomach would probably be a bit much. I would watch her closely for signs of dietary indiscretion like vomiting, diarrhea and inappetence and if observed have her evaluated by your veterinarian for further assessment and treatment at that point. Hello, you should monitor him for any signs of vomiting. If you note any then he should be seen by a veterinarian. Ideally, the cheese and wrapper will pass without complications but if the wrapper is big enough, it may become such and cause an obstruction. Make sure that you keep him away from other foreign material in the future since he may be an indiscriminate eater. Hope this helps and best of luck.
