My small 15-pound dog ate a 125mg Gas-X tablet. Will she be fine?

While Dexilant isn't a drug regularly used in veterinary medicine, I found information that states "According to toxicity studies there was no effect from the drug on dogs when given at a dose of 5mg per kilogram (2.2 pounds) of body weight for several days in a row." I can see that this medication comes in various formulation, the highest dosage one is 10 mg. 1.1 mg/kg is safe for dogs, meaning the amount she ingested is not enough to cause her any toxic effect, she should be fine.

Try feeding her a bland diet of boiled white meat chicken (no bones) and white rice in small amounts several times a day for a couple of days. Then slowly add back in her normal diet. If this doesn't help, have her seen by a vet.

A 1mg pill should not be dangerous if either dog got ahold of it. Dogs can safely take xanax, and 1mg is within the dose range for both dogs. It's on the higher end for your smaller dog, but it's still ok. I hope this helps!

Not to worry! 35mg of acepromazine is still within a normal dosage range for a dog Botticelli's size. She may be extra groggy and have a longer nap than usual, but there should be no other detrimental effects. :-)

Xanax has a wide margin of safety in dogs, and a total dose of 0.5 mg in a large-breed dog would not be expected to cause any problems at all - in fact, the commonly-used dosage range for a dog this size goes up to 2 mg. So Izzy may be a bit more drowsy than usual, but otherwise should be just fine :)

There is a wide range of doses for metronidazole for dogs depending on the condition being treated, and at her weight and the dose she ate, the tablet is within the range of doses. It's on the higher end, but still within the dose range. That being said, you could see some side effects from eating this medication, such as GI upset. Excessive salivation, gagging, nausea, vomiting, and decreased appetite are the most common side effects seen. If you see any of those signs, withhold food for 8-12 hours, then feed her a bland diet of boiled white meat chicken (no bones) and white rice in small amounts several times a day for a couple of days. Then slowly add back in her normal diet. Rarely you can see neurological disorders from an accidental overdose, but she likely may not show these signs due to her not overdosing. It's just something I will mention you should be aware of, and if you see anything concerning or she won't stop vomiting, won't eat the bland diet, and/or becomes very lethargic, take her into a vet right away.
