My dog ate a fruit seed, can't poop, crying. Is it an emergency?

If Morty is crying in pain, unable to eat or pass feces I would be very concerned about a gastrointestinal blockage. This can occur when a dog eats something they shouldn't have, articles of clothing, rawhide, toys or even fruit cores. The foreign body then becomes lodges in the stomach or intestines and forms a blockage. With pressure building up and constructed blood vessels this becomes a life threatening emergency. For this reason I would advise taking Morty straight to the veterinarian. The vet will perform an examination to see if a blockage may be present. If they suspect one an X-ray will likely be done to identify its location and to make a treatment plan. Best of luck to you both. Again I am so sorry Morty is experiencing this.

Oh, dear! With peach pits, there are two main concerns: if it was chewed up quite a bit before swallowing, there is a chance of a toxicity issue since peach pits do contain small amounts of cyanide. If he swallowed it whole, it's very likely to cause an intestinal obstruction as it moves through his GI tract, which would require surgery. If he just ate it, I would recommend having him seen by a vet right away - he/she can give an injection to safely induce vomiting so that, hopefully, he will throw it up and you won't need to worry.

A partial or complete intestinal obstruction is always a concern when pits of any kind are ingested, especially by a smaller dog such as Harley. Given his symptoms, hospitalization for IV fluids, IV medications and follow up abdominal x-rays may be indicated since conservative treatment has been ineffective. A series of abdominal x-rays using contrast media, such as Barium, may diagnosis a partial or complete obstruction. Pancreatitis is also a concern as is cyanide toxicity from the cherry pits (if he ate enough of them).

Please have Rosie seen by a vet right away, as this is an emergency. It sounds like the bone has caused a blockage, which is extremely painful, and it could lead to perforation of the intestines, which can be deadly. Oh poor Rex! Unfortunately, it sounds like the bone may be stuck. The best thing you can do for him is to take him into your vet right away. Your vet can use x-rays to determine if the bone is stuck, and he may need surgery to have it removed. The bone could also be causing constipation, and he may need an enema to help him poop. Your vet is the best person to determine this, and administer the enema if needed. Because he is having troubling pooping, he does need to see a vet immediately, so please take him in now.

It sounds as though you're concerned that Cooper may have an intestinal obstruction/blockage from eating everything he can find. The most common signs of an obstruction include vomiting, lethargy and inappetence, so if you observe any of these changes, he needs to go to an ER vet immediately. If Copper is otherwise eating, drinking and acting normally, consider adding a small amount of canned pure pumpkin (not pie filling!) to his diet to see if the added fiber helps him to have a bowel movement. If he still hasn't had a bowel movement by tomorrow, he should see his vet for signs of constipation. I assume that Copper is urinating normally, but if he has not urinted today, he needs to see an ER vet immediately.

I'm sorry to hear that Gizmo isn't feeling well. If this only just started and Gizmo is his normal happy self, you can offer a small amount of boiled chicken and rice this evening, see if it settles down.
