My puppy ate fluoxetine. What should I do if my dog ate Prozac?

Based on the normal dose range of fluoxetine for dogs, your dog received less than double the recommended dose. Signs of overdose include lethargy and hyper salivation, while seizures can occur in dogs who have massive overdoses (this would not be considered a massive overdose). Because your dog has only taken a little over the highest recommended dose, he should be ok but you can take him into a vet to have vomiting induced to be safe. I never recommend doing it at home due to the risk of aspiration and the fact that hydrogen peroxide (which people commonly use at home to induce vomiting) can and does cause gastritis often worse than the initial problem. You can monitor him, and you do see any side effect, you can take him into the vet.

Havoc should be absolutely fine after ingesting the Proin tablet! He ingested approximately 4.4 mg/kg (milligrams per kilogram of body weight), and more serious signs of toxicity usually occur with doses over 15 mg/kg. There is a chance that Havoc may experience agitation, vomiting, decreased heart rate or elevated blood pressure. While these signs generally resolve within 24 hours of ingestion, it would be ideal to take Havoc to his vet for an exam and blood pressure measurement. I hope this helps!

Duke is 80lbs, so about 36.4kg. He ingested 0.55mg/kg of Lexapro. With doses as low as 0.3mg/kg, you can see incoordination and lethargy, although there is typically no toxic damage to organs. To be safe, if Duke ate the Lexapro within the past 2 hours, I would take him to your vet now to induce vomiting. If it's been longer than 2 hours, you will have to monitor him for signs of toxicity (tremors, incoordination, seizures, lethargy), and if you see any of those signs, take him to a vet right away.

The trazadone dose is also within the recommended dose range when used in combination with a selective serotonin reuptake inhibitor, which is the classification of fluoxetine. There is n increased risk of developing a disorder called serotonin syndrome when these two drugs are used together, but the lower dose range of trazadone is used when they are given together to try to prevent that. The normal dose range of trazadone is higher than what Hank is currently being given. I hope this helps!

Your veterinarian may have had a specific reason for choosing to prescribe it twice daily in Saber's case, so if you're concerned, I would recommend calling to discuss your questions with your vet. He/she should be able to explain why they chose this dosage for Saber, or may opt to reduce it if it was an oversight :)

This is a very high dose for a 20lb dog and some effects are likely to be seen. If it was eaten within the last 90 minutes, then it's best to take him to a vet so they can induce vomiting and give other treatment to prevent absorption of the drug. At this dose he is in danger of having tremors and possibly seizures, it's best to take him to the vet as soon as possible for treatment and monitoring. Such a small amount of flucoxacillin as this is unlikely to cause any signs or symptoms, although the powder is quite bitter it may cause some drooling and vomiting.
