My dog ate a bone, stomach still upset after vet. Should I worry?

Your dog still may vomit the bone or some of the bone fragments and she will probably have an upset stomach for a day or so. She will probably also develop diarrhea or soft stools because of ingesting the bones. Keep a close eye on her and if the vomiting lasts more than 24 hours or she starts having bloody stools, you will need to take her to the veterinarian. Bones can dissolve in the stomach with enough time. It sounds like Kyro had a bout of pancreatitis that caused the vomiting and diarrhea. If Kyro is now acting normal, I would continue to feed the bland diet and see what happens. It may take a day or two for there to be enough food ingested to create solid poop. If he stops eating, starts vomiting again, or seems lethargic, he should be re-examined by a vet.

I'm afraid it's stuck in Princess's digestive system as well. You have to take her into a vet immediately, this is a medical emergency. If she does have this bone stuck, she will need surgery to remove it. Leaving an obstruction untreated is fatal, so please take her into a vet now.

Bones and raw food of any kind are a huge danger to any dog as they can cause serious infections, can perforate (poke a hole in) the intestines, cause gastritis, pancreatitis, and other issues. I would be very worried about a septic abdomen with Rowdy. If he is still not acting normally I would have him rechecked with your vet ASAP to do x-rays, a possible abdominal ultrasound to make sure there is no free fluid in his abdomen. If these are normal then your vet will likely treat for a gastritis/pancreatitis. If he can't stand and is having diarrhea, he could be very dehydrated and need IV fluids as well. I would strongly suggest pursing these other tests, especially if Rowdy is still acting the way you have described, with diarrhea and unable to stand. Best of luck with Rowdy.

Ideally, Darcy should be seen by your veterinarian or at the nearest veterinary ER. Abdominal xrays may be indicated after an exam to determine if she will be able to pass the bone or not. If not, endoscopy or surgery may be needed for removal. Induction of vomiting is usually not recommended in these cases. You should be seen by your physician to address your bite wounds.

He ate something his body isn't used to and there were sharp bone fragments. He could also have a piece of the bone stuck somewhere. I would recommend taking him to the vet because he is young and I don't want him to dehydrate. They may need to take X-rays. They can then give him medications to calm his stomach. In the future I would not recommend giving Shadow any bones for fear of the above things. Good luck and kisses to Shadow!

Poor Devious! Many dogs will have an upset stomach after eating something like this. The biggest concern is that the rib bones can have sharp edges and may cause an intestinal perforation, or they could become stuck and cause a blockage in her intestines. Signs of these problems would include repeated episodes of vomiting, acting lethargic, and not wanting to eat - if she develops any of these symptoms, she needs to see a vet immediately as she may need emergency surgery to remove the bones. If she is acting normal right now apart from some runny stool, you can try feeding her a bland diet of plain boiled chicken and rice for the next 2-3 days to help settle her stomach and get things back to normal. If this doesn't help, or if she develops any other symptoms such as the ones I listed above, you will need to take her to the vet right away for an exam and treatment.
