My dog ate a baseball glove and threw up twice. Should I be worried?

Do not induce vomiting at home without the advice of your vet. The concern is that the cover, as a whole, may cause a gastric or intestinal obstruction. If it was chewed into pieces, it will likely pass on its own. Monitor her appetite and stool. Should she begin to vomit, stops eating, becomes lethargic or exhibits symptoms of abdominal pain then you should have her seen by your vet. It may take up to a week to pass the cover. Feeding a high fiber diet may help push it through. Mix in some plain canned pumpkin (NOT pie filling) or sweet potato to add fiber to the diet.

Oh no, poor Chloe! If she vomited up a sock and glove, I would be concerned there are other things in her stomach causing her to vomit. The best thing to do is take her into a vet immediately for an exam and x-rays. If she does have other foreign objects in her stomach or intestines, they may need to be removed surgically. If he continues to vomit than you should be worried and have him examined by a vet. Your vet can take an X-ray to look for signs of an obstruction. If the vomiting has resolved than just monitor him for additional signs.

I would only worry if you see symptoms of a possible obstruction, which includes: excessive vomiting, lack of appetite, lethargy and few feces. If seen then its best to take him to your vet for a proper exam and testing to determine if the gloves are still inside. Hopefuly he continues to do well as it seems he has done so far. It possibly could be from the baseball. I've seen cases where dogs have eaten a foreign object, and it takes weeks for signs to appear. It could also be a GI illness. Take Huckleberry into a vet now to get checked out. Best of luck.

Of course the concern would be a gastrointestinal obstruction from her eating pieces of her toy. At this point, if she has only vomited once, you may continue to monitor her closely to see if it is only going to be an isolated episode. Watch closely for signs associated with an obstruction such as nausea, vomiting, anorexia and abdominal pain. If observed, have her evaluated by a veterinarian as soon as possible for further assessment and treatment at that point. Good luck and have a great day!

If he chewed the sponge into tiny pieces and vomited the majority of them up he hopefully will do just fine. The shoe cleaner itself can be very irritating to the stomach and certainly a large sponge could potentially get lodged in the stomach or small intestine of such a young/small pup. If there are no further episodes of vomiting over the next 2-3 days you should be in the clear. If Richie does start vomiting again or if he doesn't want to eat I would have him evaluated by your veterinarian right away.
