My dog ate acorns, has bloody diarrhea. How to help & when will she get better?

One of the sharp bone ends may have caused irritation or internal injury. Bright, red blood may indicate injury in the colon or lower intestine while dark, tarry stool may indicate bleeding in the stomach or upper intestine. As long as Bailey is behaving normally otherwise, you can try withholding food for 24 hours. Allow small amounts of water or unflavored PediaLyte. Resume feeding a bland diet in small, frequent amounts. Begin with one tablespoon of food every hour and gradually increase the amount. Feed bland until the stool is normal then transition slowly to the regular diet. See your veterinarian if Bailey develops lethargy, vomiting, loss of appetite, abdominal pain or if the stool has the appearance of raspberry jelly. A bland diet is plain white rice mixed with one of the following: cottage cheese, boiled boneless/skinless chicken breasts, cooked/drained ground beef or cooked/drained ground turkey.

Prescous' diarrhea is probably due to eating something that did not agree with her (trash)and this likely caused colitis, The problem here is that her stool is bloody and because of that would require a course of antibiotics to prevent the bacteria that live in the digestive tract to enter the blood stream. I would fast her for 12 hours and then put her on bland food for two days, such as boiled white rice and boiled white boneless chicken meat, fed in small quantities over several feeds and then transition back to her regular food slowly over a few days. She should also be seen by your vet, preferably tomorrow for an exam and a prescription of antibiotics.
