Dog has bloat, pukes, yellow poop, itching. What food for allergies?

I would try hills z/d ultra or royal canin anallergenic (an even more restricted version). Ensure also she is not receiving any additional treats, flavored tablets, bones, table scraps or raiding any garbage bins. She may also require prescription medication to resolve the current flare up. A home prepared diet may be an option but would have to be formulated with the help of an expert nutritionalist and can only comprise of novel ingredients (foods she has never eaten before such as kangaroo/venison/sweet potato etc - these are very difficult to supplement sufficiently and are very expensive to maintain in the long term)

I recommend to ask your veterinarian this question. A true food allergy generally requires a special diet (this is generally a prescription food and I always recommend one with a hydrolyzed protein). Dietary intolerance may just need a diet that is formulated for sensitive stomachs. I recommend the Royal Canin or Purina ProPlan. Your vet will be able to guide you as to which type of food to try. Poor Caeser! Skin allergies can be so frustrating. If you haven't already, I would consider a prescription hypoallergenic diet like hill's science diet Z/D or their limited ingredient diet or purina's HA diet. A food trial consists of 12 weeks of ONLY these food and the approved treats. If you don't want to go to the expense of these foods, you can try an OTC limited ingredient diet. My favorite is natural balance venison and sweet potato. Chicken and beef are the most common causes of food allergies. As far as the environmental allergies, I would talk to your vet about a long term medication like apoquel. This has been a game changer for a lot of my allergies patients. Finally, considering his loose stool, this could be due to the food or something else entirely. I would have your vet take a look at his stool for parasites, campylobacter and giardia. These can all cause GI problems and can be easily treated. You may also talk to your vet about whether or not Pepcid would be a good option for Caeser. If the vomiting most commonly occurs first thing in the morning before he eats, he could have a small case of acid reflux. This is usually easily fixed by giving Pepcid right before bed time. I would talk to your vet about the appropriate dose for him and whether this could be what is going on. I hope this helps!

It is certainly possible that the food is the problem. I couldn't say what it is about that brand that is problematic, but some dogs simply do better with certain brands than others. If she has a chicken allergy, I would make sure that whatever brand of food you choose you check extremely carefully for ingredients, and may go as far as calling up the company. Sometimes they can sneak something like "poultry by product" in at the very end of the ingredient list and it is very easy to miss. There are also prescription diets available that are very low ingredient and generally safer for pets with dietary issues. Other issues that can cause gastrointestinal issues in dogs would include inflammatory or infectious diseases, immune-mediated diseases (such as IBD), certain cancers, liver disease, and a few other less common possibilities. If she hasn't already, it might be a good idea to obtain some blood work just to see if everything is checking out OK. Ultrasound and abdominal radiographs are also possibilities if you want to explore the problem in more detail.

I am sorry Choco is having this issue. I would recommend a prescription diet that has hydrolyzed protein. If he stops vomiting after 2 months of being on it then it was a food allergy, I would also recommend x-rays of Choco's abdomen and chest. The reason for this is to make sure there is no issues with his gastrointestinal tract and to make sure his esophagus is ok. Without a full diet history it is impossible to prescribe a diet. Hills z/d is a hydrolyzed formula where all the proteins have been broken down (akin to being pre-digested) into small pieces so the immune system should not react to them and so should resolve the food intolerance symptoms, it is easily digested and highly absorbable by even the most sensitive bowel. A similar, hydrolyzed option is royal canin hypoallergenic or anallergenic and many pets find these extremely palatable. Some cases can do well on a 'novel protein diet' of home prepared food based on a protein source which she has never eaten before. This should be formulated only by a specialist nutritionist - tufts university clinical nutrition team are available by phone or appointment to help with this but it can be extremely expensive and time consuming to feed such a specific and strict diet and commercial brands are often more successful in resolving symptoms in the long term

I'm personally not a fan of Blue Buffalo. Their quality control is very poor because they don't own their own factories to make their food. They give the recipe to the factory who makes it for them. That means they aren't there to be sure the recipe is followed exactly. I would try Orijen or Acana. They own their own factories, so the quality control is very good.
