My dog reacted to beef and lamb. Could he be allergic to salmon too?

Diarrhea can be observed with conditions such as colitis, gastroenteritis, dietary indiscretion, intestinal parasites, among many other possibilities. This could be a sensitivity to the food that she is currently eating. You can start by changing her diet to a sensitive stomach type diet to see if she improves. If no improvement is noted, I recommend that you have Stella evaluated by your veterinarian for further assessment and treatment. Cooked salmon is fine. We typically recommend avoiding the frequent proteins found in regular diets. This may include chicken and beef mainly. For novel proteins, we typically recommend venison, duck, or rabbit. You can find commercial diets with these ingredients. Occasionally, pets may also be allergic to grains, so selecting something with a single ingredient such as potato and duck is usually the best option. Hope this helps and best of luck.

If she is refusing to eat and that is her only symptom, then she may just not like Salmon. Allergies to food cause itchy skin and skin redness and irritation. There is no need to transition slowly to prevent vomiting since he already vomits on the original diet. I would start a new diet with a different meat protein such as salmon, venison, rabbit, etc. I hope this helps! In general, salmon is a good protein for sensitive stomachs. Limited ingredient diets are only good for dogs who have food allergies. In general, food allergy is rare and affects less than 10% of all dogs with allergies. I recommend instead, if the concern is a sensitive stomach, to try Royal Canin or Purina Pro Plan. Both of these companies carry sensitive stomach formulas. If you want to diagnose a food allergy, use a prescription hydrolyzed protein diet. I hope this helps.

Food allergy testing is notoriously inaccurate for such fine detail and in order to determine the extent that the allergies are contributing to her symptoms i would recommend a food which has no peas/legumes and no fish. A hydrolyzed diet such as royal canin hypoallergenic for 8-10 weeks with no flavored tablets or treats. Rechallenging with separate ingredients after this can help to identify which cause a recurrence of symptoms
