Is there an all-in-one heartworm, flea, and tick medicine for dogs?

Hi, thanks for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach! I like Bravecto for flea and ticks. It is a topical that works for 3 months. Then I would use interceptor monthly for heartworm and intestinal parasites. Or you can use Advantage Multi and the Seresto collar for the ticks. But you are right there isn't a product that gets everything for dogs or cats. Have a great day!

Great question! Nexgard kills the deer tick as well as fleas and American dog tick/rocky mountain tick, and lone star tick. It is an oral pill as well, so I would us that for your dogs. Because Nexgard doesn't protect again heartworms, you will have to give your dogs Heartgard as well, which is available by prescription only from the vet. Advantix is a spot on treatment that treats the same things as Nexgard, but you would also have to use Heartgard as well for the heartworms. These two medications (Nexgard and Advantix) are for dogs only. As for the cats, Simparica prevents five types of ticks, so this may work for your cats :-)

Nexgard and Bravecto have oral chews that dogs can eat as treats. Nexgard is monthly whereas Bravecto is every 3 months. Both of these prevent against fleas and ticks. Heartgard is an oral medication that protects against heartworm and other intestinal parasites. There is a Seresto collar that can be worm by dogs to prevent flea and tick infections for up to 8 months. I recommend reaching out to your local vet to see which products they have available. Hello. There is no need to separate these two products. There are some heartworm products that should not be given within 2 weeks of some of tick & flea products such as Bravecto & Nexgard, but administering a dewormer will not cause a problem with your flea product. The oral medications for heartworms and ticks have actually been developed to be much safer and less toxic than the sprays. The heartworm pills are very safe and the medication only stays in the body for one day (but it still works for a month). There are a number of different oral tick medications on the market, but they all appear to be quite safe even when used at the same time as heartworm medications. I know Joshie is small and it seems like it would be a lot for her, but the amount of medications in the pills is quite small and I would not expect Joshie to have any problems with the medications. Thank you for submitting your question regarding Lupin. I recommend using Vectra 3D. This is a topically applied medication. The pests are repelled or killed on contact. This means the pet does not need to be bit for the medication to work as is the case with oral medications. It is a broad spectrum product including repelling mosquitos. This helps with heartworm prevention as well. I hope this information helps!

Congratulations on your new dog! I like Revolution if you are looking for a topical product. It consistently works well and is well tolerated. If you like the idea of an oral product better, I like Trifexis (it’s another all in one product). Sometimes though the pets can smell the Trifexis and they won’t eat it. In that instance, I like Simparica and Interceptor. My personal preference is oral products. I hope this helps and please feel free to post any additional questions.
