Why is my dog acting weird in the morning, even after going potty?

Updated on September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | Mixed Breed Large (61lb +) | Female | spayed | 6 years and 5 months old | 63 lbs

My dog for the last early in the morning, acting weird, wanting to climb up in bed. I take her outside and she pee/poop. I go back to bed and she continues acting weird. It's driving me nuts!!

Hello, thank you for your question.

Sometimes dogs act more clingy when they are not feeling well. This is one of the ways they try to show you that something is wrong. I would monitor Owy closely for any other symptoms - decreased appetite, vomiting, diarrhea, or even limping. If you notice any of these symptoms I would recommend having her evaluated by a veterinarian.

Alternatively sometimes dogs can act this way if there is a source of stress in the environment. Stressors can include company in the house, a new pet, a change to your schedule, etc. If any of these have occurred it is likely that Owy will adjust with time.

Hope this helps.
