Is it safe to give my Doberman puppy raw or cooked chicken daily?

Raw diets are really not recommended. There is an extremely high chance he could get salmonella or E. coli poisoning just like if we ate raw meat. Despite what TV commercials would lead you to believe, your dog is not a wolf. Dogs have been domesticated a very long time now and their GI tracts have evolved to reflect that. If you want to feed a homemade diet you can do that but the food must be cooked an you need to have a veterinary nutritionist formulate the diet so that is properly balanced with all the vitamins and minerals a dog needs - especially a large breed puppy. I just recommend you feed him a large breed puppy food that is already formulated with everything he needs. A premium brand (not boutique) that is within your budget. Brands of food I like include Royal Canin, Hill's Science Diet, Purina ProPlan, and Iams. I know Royal Canin is available in India, so I highly recommend their puppy food. I do not recommend home diets, it's so hard to get the correct balance. Good on your for noticing bones in the meat! You are absolutely correct they could perforate the stomach and intestines. I personally never recommend feeding puppies or dogs a raw food diet. There is too much of a risk of E coli and salmonella poisoning from it to both the dog and the humans making the diet. In addition, a raw meat diet will not provide Tyson with all the nutrients he needs to grow properly. It is very difficult to have a home cooked diet that provides everything he needs. As a puppy, he needs larger amounts of calories, protein, and calcium than adult dogs to grow. Tyson should be fed a high quality puppy formulated food, such as Royal Canin or Hills Science diet. Mac can have a handful of boiled chicken a couple of times a week as a treat. Boiled chicken on it's own is not a healthy or balanced diet for a puppy, and he needs a puppy formulated food to meet his nutritional requirements for growth. I recommend feeding him Royal Canin. When you do give him the boiled chicken as a treat, make sure it's white meat and there are no bones in it. I hope this helps :-)

Yes, cooked chicken meat is fine. Do not give cooked chicken bones as they will splinter when chewed and can cause damage in the stomach and intestines. I prefer to give a good quality dog food, and use a small amount of chicken for treats when training or to encourage dogs to eat. I actually prefer commercial dog food as it includes the proper balance of nutrition that they need. A lot of raw food diets don’t have the proper studies to back it up and they don’t have the proper nutrients in them. Also, dogs who eat raw food diet are st higher risk for bacterial infections like salmonella. I think as long a syou are giving a high quality large breed or giant breed puppy food like science diet, Iams, or royal canin then he should grown normally. I hope this helps!
