My 6-month-old Dachshund puppy won't eat. What can I feed him?

Hello. Is Diggs eating at least once a day? You might try feeding a soft moist or canned diet & see if he prefers this. Try to stay away from any people food because they can become fixated on this & refuse all pet food. As long as he has plenty of puppy energy, there is probably nothing seriously wrong with him. This specific diet is very palatable and also very good in terms of nutrition. You could also consider adding dog grade gravy to her food which may improve her appetite. Another thing you can do is add pieces of chicken to the kibble at least for now to encourage her to eat. Good luck!

I recommend that you try a highly palatable diet such as Purina Pro Plan shredded blends. Also, you may use dog grade gravy or pieces of boiled chicken to be mixed with his food to try to improve his appetite. Otherwise, it is very likely that Tucker will be fine. They will usually eat until they are not hungry and then resume eating when they feel like eating again. Good luck and have a great day!

Schazi may not be eating this food because she doesn't like the taste, or she could be ill. Not eating is one of the first signs of illness in dogs. I'm not sure when she had her last vet check, but it would be good to have her seen by a vet just to make sure everything is ok with her. If she doesn't have a medical illness, you may have to try a a different brand of food for her to get her to eat. Brands I recommend include Royal Canin, Hill's Science Diet, Purina ProPlan, and Iams. First though, call the vet to make an appointment for a health check. Best of luck, I hope this helps!

I think it is worth a try, yes. If he still doesn't like it, then perhaps a slow transition to another high quality puppy food can be tried. I really like Royal Canin, Hills Science diet, Evo, Merrick And Eukanuba brands if you interested in other brand options. Best of luck with Boovs and getting him interested in his food again.

Hello. Have you tried any canned, wet or soft-moist foods? Some dogs do seem to prefer this as they age. I would especially try the FreshPet diet as many pets really seem to like it. If he continues to refuse to eat, you should have Dash evaluated by your veterinarian as there could be an underlying reason for his refusal to eat.
