My Mini Poodle needs 3rd vaccine at 6 months? Can I clip her hair?

She could have been spayed anytime after 6 months of age. The more heat cycles she goes through, the greater risk she has of developing mammary gland tumors later in life. As she gets older, the risk of uterine infection (pyometra) will also increase. The rabies vaccine should have been administered at between 12-16 weeks of age. She should have received a booster at 1 year of age. After that one, she can get a rabies vaccine every 3 years. The "5 way vaccine", does not include rabies. This vaccine can be given yearly or every 3 years depending on which company makes it.

She currently isn't fully vaccinated, so it is best to wait a bit if possible. I would recommend doing puppy wipes or waterless shampoo until then, if you are not too keen on doing a full on bath right now. This can at least get some of the puppy dirt off until she is ideal age for a grooming appt. Another alternative is to have a mobile groomer do her bath or discuss with the grooming facility to see if they take any extra precautions for puppies that aren't fully vaccinated. I would wait until Keelo has finished his full series of vaccinations (at about 16-18 weeks) so that he is protected against those infectious diseases. Be sure that he receives his kennel cough vaccination as well. This vaccine is by no means 100% protective, but it can help to reduce the severity of the symptom should he contract kennel cough.

I would start by just having the instruments (clippers, nail trimmers, etc) near her, and touching her, but not on and not actually trimming or clipping. With this include lots of positive praise and treats. Playing with her toes and nails with your hands on a regular basis helps as well. You can then start grooming in small unstressful bits of time. Missing a vaccine is not a problem logistically speaking. However, I would definitely recommend getting them to get BUSO the best protection. Depending on the length of time since the last vaccine, the series might have to be restarted. At 12 weeks old, a single vaccine and then a booster in 3-4 weeks will be required to provide adequate protection. Regarding the eye, if you are referring to a white spot on the surface of the eye, in a dog this age a focal spot is usually due to a scratch on the eye. Corneal ulcers can be diagnosed at your veterinarian with a very simple and easy test. They will require treatment to repair the ulcer and to prevent secondary infection. Regarding hair loss, this could be due to fleas, allergies, or something immune-mediated. Rule out fleas first by first using a flea medication approved for a dog younger than 14 weeks of age.
