Is CBD oil safe for my senior dog with old age health issues?

So I cannot say if it is safe to give Canyon the CBD oil along with his pain medications. Because of that, I do not recommend it.

Hello, sorry to hear about Odie. There are other pain medications out there that will not damage the liver and these can be tried on Odie if you feel like he is still very uncomfortable. CBD oil has many believed benefits, but none that have been proven and there is no published data currently on the benefits of CBD oil in dogs. However, this does not mean you cannot try it and see if Odie is more comfortable on this. CBD treatment in veterinary medicine is still fairly new so there really is not a lot of research right now on dosing and it's effects for various conditions. These products are now becoming more widely accepted as an alternative approach to managing chronic pain in animals. There have been some suggestions that they help reduce seizures. If you want to try something else for his anxiety issues that we know is safe, I would suggest Zylkene or Composure - these are natural calming supplements that can be purchased over the counter or ordered online without a prescription. You could also talk to your veterinarian about prescription anti-anxiety medication such as alprazolam or trazodone, if Peetie's anxiety is severe.
