Caucasian ovtcharka or tibetan mastiff as a farm Dog? These are the Key factors for me- 1.less likely to roam, 2. Will have the most love and affection for me, 3. Learn bounderies of the farm and stay,4.better with other dogs and livestock,I'm definitely getting one of these dogs as my current German Shepherd seems to do nothing when a fox gets into the chickens even my chihuahua Is more brave than my gsd so it's definitely between these 2

If you are interested in a protector and guardian for your home and property, either would fit the bill. Acclimating the dog to your horses and your horses to the dog would be important as would ongoing training to maintain good behavior. The ovcharka may be a bit more playful when not "on duty" , but it would be a personal preference as to whether or not you wanted a companion more than a guardian.
