My Boxer puppy is still wheezing and lethargic. Is it serious?

There are a variety of causes for what you are describing, including an upper respiratory infection, tracheal irritation, asthma, allergies, or another underlying issue. As they are persistent and non-resolving, I would recommend Cooper be evaluated by his regular veterinarian to try to determine what may be going on, have any necessary testing done (xrays, etc) and start a treatment plan if needed. This may be from an allergic reaction from a bite or sting or something in the environment. In severe cases, vomiting and lethargy can occur and be related. However being a puppy, he does need to be seen by a vet to make sure there is nothing else going on such as a viral infection that is causing the vomiting and lethargy, parvo. Your vet can examine him and check for parvo if needed and determine if it is all a reaction or something else

I am concerned that she is having such trouble breathing. This could be another pneumonia, an upper respiratory infection, a fungal infection, a congenital heart problem and much more. If your vet has already done X-rays and they were normal, you may want to talk to them about having an ultrasound of the heart done. Also, I would have her blood work checked to see how her liver and kidney values are and see what her white blood count looks like. Finally, I would talk to your vet about whether see needs some antibiotics and medicine to help her breathing. I hope this helps and she starts to feel better soon.

Yes, it is quite possible the pneumonia has not resolved. She needs urgent reassessment by a vet and further medication, possibly intravenous fluids and antibiotics in order to stabilise her condition. Such severe pneumonia in a young pup is very concerning and can be fatal due to lung scarring and collapse. It is possible there may be underlying birth defects contributing to the original condition and/or her poor response to treatment

Throwing up can be caused by a food sensitivity, dietary indiscretion, intestinal parasites, an intestinal blockage, bacterial infection, viral infection, the weather, food change, stress, etc.  I would fast him for 24 hours and then put him on bland food for two days, such as boiled white rice and boiled white boneless chicken meat, fed in small quantities over several feeds and then transition back to regular food slowly over a few days. If this does not clear up the vomiting or if the vomiting increases, or if your dog stays lethargic, he needs to see a veterinarian for an exam as there may be something more serious such as an infection going on.

Hi, and thanks for your question. This sign could be compatible with an upper respiratory tract inflammation/infection or possibly to a chronic rhinitis (inflammatory, allergic, infective). I would recommend having a veterinarian examine her so that the most appropriate diagnostic and treatment recommendations can be made. She will likely need to be on a course of an antibiotic to help fight the infection. I would also recommend having chest x-rays taken to assess her lungs. I hope this helps!
