What food is best for my puppy's growth and balanced nutrition?

Milo should have teeth by now so either a starter puppy food from a high quality brand like Royal Canin, Eukanuba or Hills Science diet . Make sure it's a puppy Large Breed food as well. Natural Balance is also a relatively good brand of food as well. You may have to do canned food for a few weeks if puppy has a hard time with the dry kibble. Or moistening he dry kibble with a little bit of water is a good alternative to canned food. Best of luck with your new puppy! Hello, any of these diets could be recommended by your veterinarian. If you feed the recommended doses as detailed on the bags then this should be sufficient for a puppy, however, in an older dog this may be too rich for her. If your veterinarian is recommending that she continues to eat a puppy food, then my choice would be a Royal Canin diet. Otherwise, you can feed a supplemented or bigger portion adult diet. I recommend that you go with a well-known brand that has a good track record of high-quality food that is well-tested. The brand you choose will depend on how you'd prefer to acquire it and how much money you'd like to spend. You can find quality food at all price points. On the lower price side, you've got brands that you can find at the grocery store, like Purina One. Middle-of-the-road brands can be found at big-box pet stores (e.g. Petco), and include Iams, Eukanuba, Science Diet, Wellness and Royal Canin. Higher end foods can also be found at the big-box stores, but smaller company brands may be easier to find at small, private pet stores, like Innova and Merrick. Whichever you choose, be sure to change Joey's diet slowly over a week's time to prevent stomach upset. I like Hill's science diet, Royal Canin and Purina. Since Alex is a small breed I would choose a dry and a canned to mix until he is about 4 months then change to all dry. I would also feed him small frequent meals, maybe about 3-4 times per day until he is 14-16 weeks. Toy breed puppies can suffer from low blood sugar. Puppies, unlike adults, need a higher amount of calcium and other minerals in their diet for their growing bones. Hello and cute picture! For an 8 week old small breed puppy, I would recommend a small breed puppy food. Royal Canin, Science Diet, Wellness Brand, and Blue Buffalo make good choices, however there are a variety of options out there. I hope you find a food she will really like. The important thing to remember is to have Cali on a puppy food until she is about 9 months to a year old. You can then transition to adult food after that.

Grain free is more hype than science... so it is no necessary to start or worry about tag. Raw diets are not safe as dogs are susceptible of bacterial infections such as salmonella and E. coli like we are, and even you can get it from handling the food...not worth the risk to anyone. Purina, royal canin, and science diet have the most research behind their products for both ingredients and safety. Your new puppy will need to be on a small bites puppy forumla due to his size. Any food within those brands is good quality. They do have some natural formulas for you to choose from also
